ANNOUNCEMENT Fleet Carriers - Content Reveal Announcement

Because they are persistent even when the owner is not logged in. So there must be a way to get rid of abandoned FC's.

But they are only persistant in thier own instance so you don't get thousands of them cluttering up the place, the only issue is you may enter a system and be instanced with an abandoned FC, but FDEV could fix that by only letting people be instanced with FC's for which the owner was logged in, or of course if people want to have their FC's earn while offline, logged in sometime in the last 24 hours.

Serious question on behalf of the people who have barely scraped together 5 billion at this point....

How old will the galaxy snapshot be that Frontier use for the public beta? In previous beta testing sessions it has been common for Frontier to take a snapshot from the galaxy from several weeks prior to use in the beta, i'm sure many people will remember logging into a new beta session and noticing their credit balance is a lot lower than they were expecting.

I can see a great many people being frustrated after grinding out 5 billion only to find that they have to do a crap load more mining just to buy and test a fleet carrier.
Or do you think during the beta we'll be able to buy a fleet carrier for like 20 fish :D

I'm thinking that FCs will be cheaper for the beta to get as many people testing as possible.

My last big 2.5 to 3 month trip out to the black netted about 2bcr. It was (as always) enjoyable.

Edit; and I wasn't hurried about it.
shakes head So when I went exploring, I treated it like a race because I had all the first discoveries/first mapped (first trip into the deep dark). I found it stressful. But exploring wasn't ever a thing I went out of my way to do. It just seemed as if one day I was 23% thru Pioneer and figured, heh - lets finish that.

Darn good job though boss!

Most (not all) Betas, offer a steep discount (very steep) on ships. They will have to if they want us all to buy them and try them. If they don't want us all to try them then the forums will explode.

But trying the FCs involves more than just buying one. They will want to see how impoverished commanders interact with them, by landing on them and using the services provided. Otherwise, they will only get data on FCs flying around which, presumably, is counter productive to the Beta learning process, although very enjoyable !

The first thing I'll get to test in the beta, is the self destruct function. This is getting to be a habit. 😲

Yes, that did occur to me. I haven't quite reached 5bn yet.

However, even if they are 5bn in the beta, and the snapshot is taken before I reach that, I could sell my Corvette. The beta is a "parallel Universe", I'd still have it in the main game.

The carrier in beta will cost 10% of the real price or 5 fishes is my guess.

Heck yeah! A must-have in the carrier is a self destruct. Every serious space ship or station has to have it. Just make sure you have an extra 5b to buy the next one (unless the insurance cover some... but does it cover self destruct?)

What does the G stand for, gazillion? :D

Btw the original announcement was two years earlier than you think.
I know man, but the actual true promise of new content last September was really something tangible for me to start working really hard :)

Edit: G.. no idea why Inara shows this way but of course it is Billions ;)

Speaking of videos, I'm looking forward to seeing the number of viewers of the Thursday livestream. I suspect this "event" will be well-attended! Even if I never own a fleet carrier myself, this is the most exciting thing to happen inside the ED universe in some time.

I'm assuming chat will be an utter mess even with slow mode so I'll probably give it a miss 'live' and just ask questions & get answers through this forum if anything remains outstanding.

My decision tree on this is quite short; if it provides a significant tactical advantage to the BGS I'll 'have' to get one asap, if it's not much more than a look at my wad trophy I probably won't unless I can easily afford it for some altruistic purpose.
