No, that only applies if the ventilators are in short supply. Why would anyone buy ventilators from a smuggler if ventilators are readily available at a regular retailer at a cheaper price. If the next system over will sell me ventilators at retail then why not buy them from the next system, ah but you say "you need them now and I have them now so you pay what I ask." But that also brings up, if ventilators are in demand surely commercial sellers would also be bringing stock in to sell, you are suggesting a rather simplistic model of an economy.

I think Rubbernuke meant medical 'asthmatics' ventilators... as far as I know don't have a service plan as such!

No it's not. I mean only like 4-5% of the entire playerbase can afford one, that's practically everyone! Only 95% of all Elite players can't afford a fleet carrier, so nah they aren't really expensive.

I don't believe there are any reliable stats to say who can and who can't afford. All I know is that I can't.

So from 11000 there are 8% that can afford one and a further 18% that are close to affording one. If that relates to the general populace then that's a pretty good chunk of players that can or will be able to get one soon.

As the release is roughly two months away, I bet the amount that can afford it will be somewhat higher on release.

This is such disappointing news ...an "Upkeep" cost of a billion per week. I am a solo X-box player with only a few contacts in this game. There is no way I would be able to grind 1 billion a week to keep the carrier that I have already spent so much invested time in buying. Fdev...you screwed us good. GOODBYE!!!

ED will always have a simplistic economic model that treats everywhere as local, what I'm arguing for is to generally tempt players via greed (via large ticket price items) to do activities that pay better but are unlawful.

With the speed of travel in Elite all the "bubbles" are local areas effectively.

Yeah, at my age exciting comes at the beginning of the day when you open your eyes and realise that you're still alive... yipeeeee... then the aches and pains draw in and you get to be your normal grumpy cynical self... humbug to excitement, why didn't they tell us when they knew!

There is no shortage though and when you or someone you know can't breathe, non options become options. There is nothing to say as demand goes up, so does black market demand too in parallel.
