Release FleetFinder v2.0 is out now! Find your Odyssey engineering materials with ease!

Version 2.2.1 is out now! Check the post below for more detailed information about it and what's new.

Are you trying to get up to speed with Operations but don't know where to get materials from? Tired of doing multiple searches over and over again for a lot of different components? Well FleetFinder has you covered!

FleetFinder is a standalone program for Windows that finds fleet carriers trading the engineering components you still need, tracks what you already hold, and lets you plan suit and weapon builds without doing the searching yourself. Simply select your commodities, hit search, fly to the carrier, buy your materials, and hit search again! The app updates your held commodities in real time and updates your location directly from the journal so all of the distances on the table are from where you currently are.

How it works:

The app has three tabs:

Find Carriers: Check the components you're short on and hit search. Results are grouped one row per carrier, showing what they sell, how much of that component you still need (in orange), the price, the distance from your current system, and how recently the listing was updated. Click a system name to copy it to the clipboard for easy pasting in the in-game galaxy map.

Modifications: This shows every suit and weapon modification and suit upgrade with the components they need. Tick the ones you want (or use the stepper to pick multiples of that mod) and hit Apply Selected. This then checks these components on the Find Carriers tab for everything you're still short on, so you can go straight to searching. Once you have purchased the required amount, the app will automatically deselect those items so you can just hit search again when you're ready to find the next carrier!

Import: Upload a wishlist exported from EDOMH (Elite Dangerous Odyssey Materials Helper). FleetFinder matches each line against the component catalogue and auto-selects what you still need, so you can plan a build in EDOMH, export it, and one click find where to buy it.

And most importantly, if you have a lot of materials to search for and you don't get them all finished in one sitting, the app will prompt you the next time you open the app so you can pick up exactly where you left off!

Where the market data comes from

Carrier listings come from the wider Elite Dangerous community's shared data network (EDDN), the same public feed that many other Elite Dangerous tools rely on. Coverage grows over time as more players play the game, so rarely traded components may show fewer results at first. Please use a journal reporting tool such as EDDiscovery, EDMC or similar to help update the network.

Components only get updated to EDDN when a cmdr opens the bartender commodity list. In order to keep this running as smoothly and as accurately as possible, I ask that once you have been to a carrier and bought what you need, please close the bartender menu and then open it again. This will update EDDN to reflect the changes in inventory stock after you have bought what you need and ensure stock levels remain as current as possible.

Requirements

- Windows 10 or 11. It doesn't run on macOS or Linux.

- Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, launched at least once so the game has written your inventory file. This is detected automatically, there's no folder to set up.

- Internet access, for carrier search and distance lookups. Both are optional, the app still runs and shows your inventory without them.

Installing

Download the latest release, then run FleetFinder.exe. Keep the Data folder that comes with it in the same place as the exe. No installer and nothing else to set up, it's a single self-contained program.

Known limitations

- Carrier docking access may show as "Unknown" if that hasn't been reported yet. This fills in over time as more players visit carriers, and like any shared community data it can occasionally be out of date by the time you arrive. Since this is a new release there will likely be more "unknown" than "yes" currently, but this will improve as people continue to dock at carriers and my server gets that info from EDDN.

- The component catalogue is curated for suit and weapon engineering, upgrades, and engineer unlocks, not every Odyssey component that exists. If an EDOMH import shows an item it doesn't recognize, that's flagged in the Import tab as "false" so you can see exactly what wasn't matched. If this happens, please let me know so it can be added.

Pushed a small hotfix to the github just now:

V2.0.1
- Improved docking access accuracy. Docking access could previously show "Yes" for a carrier that was actually restricted to friends or squadron members only, based on someone with special access successfully docking there. That signal has been removed, so "Yes" now only appears once a carrier's real, general access policy has been confirmed. This means some carriers will show "Unknown" a bit longer than before, but the "Yes" you do see should now be trustworthy.

- Faster sorting in the "Where to buy" results, especially noticeable after a broad search with many components ticked at once.

Just as a PSA for now, the search results table is sometimes resolving carrier names as their callsigns. There is nothing I can do about this until the carrier owner themselves or someone with docking permissions (friend or squadron) successfully docks there, and reports this to EDDN. If you see a carrier in the list that has a callsign for a carrier name and the docking access says "unknown" there is a 99% probability that carrier does not have public docking access, however I am not omitting them from the search as there is still the chance the docking perms have changed between the time you searched, and the time you get there.

This will eventually resolve itself over time but since the database is still relatively new we simply don't have the information yet. Please be patient with it!

Version 2.1.0 is out now!!

Small edit - 13.07.26: I have changed some of the logic to the database filtering on how it processes the EDDN feed so now it only shows carriers that have resolved carrier names and docking access set to yes. Again I must stress this is not a 100% foolproof guarantee that the carrier access is open to everyone, but its like 99% sure. Before we were getting a lot of "unknown" results, mixed with the carrier's name displaying as the callsign, and this was a 99% certainty that the carrier was locked to friends/squadron/both, so they got yeeted. You will see fewer results for a while until the database collects more data for more carriers, but the results you do get will be far more accurate than before.

Thank you to everyone who has downloaded the app and given it a try so far!! I'm really happy everyone is enjoying the app and how it's helping you snap up those pesky engineering materials!! I had originally wanted to push this update later in the week, however I must come clean with you all and admit a small error in my calculations with the initial release. I have spent today fixing it and decided to just bundle it in with the new features and ship it all in one release.

TL;DR - My original modifications dataset was wrong. They're all fixed now.

So the dataset I used to make this app was a spreadsheet from quite some time ago made by another CMDR (this one to be exact) and I had saved a copy of this entire spreadsheet to my own master spreadsheet that I've been curating for my own use since Horizons. I did not engage in on-foot content initially for a few years due to... reasons... and I went looking to update my sheet a few weeks ago and noticed the original one had been deleted. I figured it was good that I had saved it and just kept using my own copy, however now I know now why it was deleted. It's because the values were way wrong after an FDev update to reduce the commodity requirements and unlocking more components to be tradeable on FCs.
So today I cross-referenced everything with both Inara and EDOMH to rebuild everything to the correct values. The components were correct (mostly), but the values were way over inflated. I am very sorry that I missed this error on the initial release, and apologies to anyone who encountered this and bought more commodities than they needed.

But good news! The update fixes all of that (in more ways than one!)

What's new:

Version Checker: Launching the app now checks the current app version against the latest release on the GitHub repo, and will prompt you in the top of the app with an orange banner letting you know the app is out of date, with a link to download the latest release and a dismiss button (if you would rather stay on the older version for whatever reason)

Selling Panel: If you have finished engineering your weapons and suits or accidentally bought too much and have components left over, you can now search those separately and see a list of all the carriers that have open buy orders for these! It is displayed in the same way as the buy panel, and the divider between the two panes is resize-able so you can see more (or less) of either panel. The items you select for sale now also persist across app relaunches, and will automatically deselect themselves when you sell out of that component. You can clear each of the buy and sell columns independently as well with the "clear buy" and "clear sell" buttons.

Stale Stock Listings: There was an issue that I hadn't encountered originally when getting the data from EDDN, and when the stock reached zero it was skipping that entry entirely and not updating. This lead to users going to a fleet carrier thinking there was 20+ of an item only to get there and see it was sold out, but the results weren't reflecting that on a re-search. This has now been fixed and works correctly, so again, please close and re-open the bartender's trade window once more after you have bought what you need. This will push the change in components for sale to EDDN and reflect in the app for everyone else to see.

Weapon Upgrade Paths: I've added the G1>G5 upgrade paths and requirements for all three weapon manufacturers now and they display the same as the suit upgrades do.

A huge thank you again to everyone who has used this so far, I hope it has been a big help and that you enjoy the new features!

Version 2.2.0 is out now!!

Barter tab added: I've added a barter tab so you can configure trades at station concourse bars from anywhere, even if the game isn't open. Simply use the tickers to select the materials you want to trade then click the material you're looking for to see how much you could get!

EDOMH Hoftix: There was a hotfix applied to EDOMH that had a negative effect on importing wishlists into FleetFinder. This has now been fixed and the imports work as they did before

v2.2.1 update:

Fixes
  • The Barter calculator was incorrectly using an item's "buy" value on both sides of a trade accidentally overinflating how many points you'd actually get. It now correctly uses the correct values for all components.
  • Fixed fleet carriers with friends/squadron-only docking access being shown as generally dockable.

Features
- The Barter tab's item list now shows separate Buy, Sell, and Credit columns, so all values are visible at a glance.

Relaunch FleetFinder or visit the github releases page to download the new version.
