For a game that is entirely text based the lack of dialogue variants is embarrassing.

Big haul like that...Good job I found you first...Tasty cargo...Go to hellspace I have heard it all before.
Adding dialogue is not difficult from a technical standpoint.
It does not take very much imagination to write these lines.
This series has generated its own book.
An entire book.
Surely if you have the time to write a book you are capable of coming up with some new one liners for the actual game?
It really is not much to ask.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Some strategic voice acting here and there would be fantastic. Barring that, yes - some additional comms chatter variation would also be welcome.

Well, it would be REALLY HARD to get two guys at the office to spend fifteen minutes a day coming up with them and putting them into the game right?

you actually read that stuff? Kudos! I have been jumping into systems and all of sudden see something like that but there is no one around then I wonder where it actually happened, was the system before or 3 systems ago?? hmmm...

To be honest, i wish i could just toggle it off, rather than have even more of it.
Because you're completely right, it comes across like something a few blokes coughed up during their coffee break.
And not very talented or creative blokes at that, i'm sure they're much better at what they actually are hired for.
This whole "Uuuuhh, i'm the bad guy and i'm coming to get you" malarkey should stay where it belongs, in underfunded B and C grade movies.
I know this is pretty blunt, but sorry, that's how i see it.

I think you would quickly run out of lines after about a week of doing that.

I would love to see more lines and more situational awareness from NPCs through. May be some more goodies will show up in the 2.3 patch.

I want it to feel like the NPCs are other human players.
Please add horrible spelling, homoerotic commentary, random racism and references to having relations with my mother.
Please also have them claim cheating every time they die and scream 'n00b!' every time they win.

I believe that the chat windows clears with each jump and you have to hit the button that brings it forward, to read what has been said before. Therefore, the NPC chat you can see, is from the system you are in. Possibly.

There are only so many ways you can say; 'Stand and Deliver!'.

Can you change the language settings if you are bored?

I really hate the whole text thing. I wish we had an in game CB radio system with multiple channels. That would be cool.

That's, unfortunately, true.

Variety is something that has a tendency to come to ED with micro-pace.

Stations, text, mission, planet types, coloration, you name it ... The only thing that has a variety is probably ships.

However, texts variety is something that's terribly lacking and imho is relatively easy to alter/add much more variants. Nope.

Good thing I found you, you're hard one to track down

Hell yeah, gotta agree. The dialogue is still at a standard I'd expect from a beta. What's so hard about writing up 10 different responces for each situation and randoming them? It's not even that there's voice acting involved, IT'S JUST TEXT. And half of it is SO CHEESY, and often really poor english (especially on the umpteeth repitition).

You might argue it's a very minor thing... and you'd be right from a certain point of view... but it's equally trivial to fix, so why not fix it?

Yes, im not usually into complaining threads but this is something that has always struck me as naff and cheesy. The pirate banter, the cruiseliner banter, the wedding barge banter etc etc. Needs to be improve or switched off....

Since there was basically 0 change in comms during the last two years I have hopes that they are doing a complete overhaul rather than tweaking the few lines we have. Including a comms system with predefined messages to talk to NPCs, make demands, apologise for FF, etc.
