Yes, we all saw the damn leak, and again, nowhere does it say that the fps features will become the main focus of the game.
Not even mentioning that this is a -leak-, rather than an official announcement. Or that roadmaps are subject to change, especially considering how old this leak is.
But I noticed that making stuff up and whining seem like two of your favourite pastimes, so idk why I'm even indulging you.
Oh! Nothing from Frontier Developments there - just the usual tat from the uninformed.

Until FDev release a statement on Next Era (hint: They have yet to do so) everything is still unfounded rumour
Ummm... you really ought to read about this leak, so far it has been on point with information that could only be gathered from inside. Though it could have been intentional like I said. It didn't reveal anything that could get them in trouble wrt stock market (there are pretty hefty fines for doing that), so maybe they threw that out there
It's all speculation anyway. I don't speak "marketing", so don't ask me why; However I've seen some weird marketing ploys like that before from different brands, not just computers.Obviously, adding a major feature like fps content would require quite a bit of focus if they want it to be a polished addition. It shouldn't just be some afterthought.
But explain again, how will this addition make the base game worse? Or where does it say that the core game will be left to gather dust? The base game needs tweaking, not a major rework (perhaps with the exception of networking), and I fully expect quite a few tweaks to come along with the new content.
Or perhaps you're suggesting that anything that's -not- mentioned in the 5 line long 4chan text cannot possibly happen?
Because it is an anonymous document, maybe? Never denied or confirmed by the actual game creators? Even if it was 100% correct, until Frontier officially announce it it remains just a rumour, is that so hard to comprehend?

Yup, that was confirmed a few times by FDev. It's not that it's a legally binding contract though ;-) It also could be separate like CQC, in which case... ugh.

That's what the leak says. There is no roadmap. And if the leak is correct, it doesn't mean its going to be a FPS. It may well be FPP gameplay where shooting may be a part of that.
Yes that has been said by Fdev. They have explicitly said it's an expansion for the current game.

And I'm too lazy to do more googling for you but I recall some posts on the forum confirming it's for the existing game and that LEP holders will of course get it for free.

Out of curiosity (and related to this thread), how many of you are putting ED back on the shelf until NE is released (or at the very least, revealed)?
I must admit, with my final source of entertainment in ED drying up, I think it's time to play the rest of my Steam library. I've no interest in fleet carriers, and us "normals" aren't getting any new content until December, so I'm questioning what the point is prolonging my inevitable departure.
