Newcomer / Intro Forever load times of galaxy map

Seriously... sometimes it takes 10-15 minutes to load the galaxy map. On a good night it's 2-3 minutes, average is 4-5. Is this normal???

It is not normal, I'm mostly on 2-4 seconds. What pc are you running, or are you xbox?

Could be your cpu isn't up to grade or it could be one of the graphics settings or it could just be a bug.

Load times in the Galaxy Map or System Map are usually tied to your computer's hardware. Post your system specs (CPU/GPU/RAM etc.) and that might help narrow down where the bottleneck is coming from.

It looks like my graphics card is the issue? I more than meet minimum, but when I ran a ED diag it said I could use an upgrade. It also said processor and ram were OK.
So... would a new graphics card help with the galaxy and system map load times and improve SC time in/out?
If so... what's a good graphics card to improve my performance, so I'm not waiting endlessly to access maps, etc... for under $200 USD?

Hi,
Not an expert on this topic here. However, from experience, my load times dropped when I changed my hard drive to a faster one with a solid state cache.

The video display is unlikely to be the problem. If it's doing the game 3D stuff, why would a simple map give it trouble? It's more likely to be a data transfer bottleneck.
