Formidine Rift... what is it?

I am about half way in the rift. Not counting Rho Cassiopeia it's been smooth sailing all along.
From Sol to here i found a whopping 4 non scoopable stars. Only had fsd lock faillure at Rho Cass.

So far i found nothing. This space is empty :(
I know i won't find anything
It's so lonely out here...
Oh look! Another gas giant!

sigh...

Chin up, keep looking.

Gah! It turns out my internet is going to be down until at least Monday. :-(

Hopefully I will be able to get back into this later this week. In the meantime, I will try to contribute my usual useless, pithy comments by phone, if only to annoy Dommarra. :p

More hints would be nice. Seeing as how we don't know exactly what we are looking for.. However, I believe that when we find it, we'll know. I don't think there would be this elaborate of a mystery for something subtle, I could be wrong though. In the meantime, if people would like to group up, Im more than willing to make the exploring a bit more enjoyable. I do have to be a little cautious with that since my 'conda is wearing nothing but underwear and no weapons :p

Now that I think about it.. It could be extremely subtle, considering the scope of things.

I sent a message to Obsidian Ant and asked him to take a look at this thread. He gets involved with a lot of the exploration stuff, so maybe it will catch his fancy and help spread the word. Would be nice to get more Commanders involved :)

I just returned from a 2 day short break to find that my post about ROT13 and EB,P has triggered quite a few posts.
I was just kidding. Obviously it makes no real sense to reverse engineer the answer to last year's riddle from Drew.

Sometimes I think we probably read too much into some of these "hints" while they actually are just good advice. In this sense what if the "core of the problem" just refers to the center disk (~Y(?)0) where star density is to be expected the highest since the galaxy is flat. Quite obvious though since this might be the only way to move through thinned out regions. Plotting a route seems a lot easier at least if aiming for a destination system that is close to the Y0 plane.

I've been thinking along the same lines. I think the two "hints" that intrigue me the most are the "core" and that Drew stated that the other side of the rift had been explored some, but nothing of note has been found, yet. Keyword, yet. My thinking is to cross the rift at the r/r line and follow the "core", -21.

Do we have any remote idea on how deep the rift is? what is the top plane Y axis and bottom Y axis. It would make determining the "core" of the rift a little easier.

Is Rho Cassiopeia the named system in the Rift that Erimus mentioned??

A good idea, didn't really think about that at the time. Basically I just dropped to -21, the same "plane" as Sag A. May be totally off base, but it seemed logical xD
Im still on the outskirts of the rift, slowly making my way into it.

Yea we need to try and figure that out, if possible. My original goal was to follow the RR line straight through the rift, but the more I think about it the more I believe the RR line is just to point out the general direction one should travel in order to find the rift.

I have now changed course to investigate an area in the rift that caught my eye.. as in ooooh shiney!

I'm in the rift at the moment. PHRIO HYPA GN-H D11-1 finding it hard to get through. Routes will only map for around 3-6 jumps. I have to jump them then see what opens up. Lots of dead ends and back tracking. I'm in an asp 31ly jump range.

I believe the same. I think it will just lead us to the general area, not to something specific. With it being such a vast amount of space, another coordinate is needed to determine where whatever it is.

I keep changing course as I explore different theories or see something shiny, so I know the feeling :) I also had to divert course after running into the Schee system at about -31.. Soo many brown dwarfs.

Now I find myself in almost complete black. Kind of disturbing, but relaxing.

im now at PHA AIRG BX-N B6-0
i had to backtrack quite a bit as i ran out of places to jump to! got very scary!
now im pushing out further around the edge, i think whatever we are looking for is on the other side

I am on my way to "Rift area", currently about 5.5k LY from Riedquat, following the R-R line...

You can add me, CMDR Friman if you want.

Ok, I have a question for you guys in the rift region.
How does space sound out there?

You know when you are in normal space, far from a body, you can hear the stars realy well. This is probably 'the silent song of the spheres' or something.

My question: Are you able to hear single stars, when the sky box is allmost empty?

And if you are, can you hear similar sounds wher there are no star?

Obsidian replied to my message. He has heard a bit about it, but asked for a summary and says he may mention it in an upcoming video :)

It might be nothing but...

The dance of the seven veils was originally suspected to be done, not by "Salome", but by "Ishtar" (the goddess of love, war, fertility, and sexuality. Aka: "Inanna") She had to take an item of clothing off each time she passed the seven gates of the underworld (Ruled by Queen "Ereshkigal") in order to rescue her lover, "Tammuz".

The Seven gods at the time in order of power at the time were...

Anu
Enlil
Enki
Ninhursag
Inanna aka: Ishtar
Nanna ana: Sin
Utu aka: Shamash

Of which, the last three mentioned were the sky gods.

And they are ALL there, in game.
As stars... and not as "real" stars.

Just sayin'

Edited again... All in the Hades cluster (The Greek name for the underworld - and there are a lot of other death gods in that cluster too as stars)

I'm 4.000ly from Riedquat, but I don't expect to reach the Formidine Bridge until Tuesday/Wednesday due to limited time. How many are we heading towards the Rift or are already there? Feel free to add me if you like.
