FPS's - Why Am I So Rubbish

I genuinely enjoyed Fractured Space but it was too niche and died. So slower paced games like ship battles do seem right. FS was space ships MOBA in 3rd person. I also immensely enjoyed Mass Effect 3 MP which is coop. Also L4D2 I liked a lot. Currently there is number of games in looter shooter out, but I dont play Destiny and Division, only Warframe which I like to go back to from time to time - also coop.

Watched a bit of gameplay on Youtube and, like PUBG, it seemed a bit frenetic.
I think I just need to admit that mouse flicking and 1ms peek shots are not my thing anymore.

Yeah if you are watching on YouTube chances are it's one of the very many pro streamers that play the game and they will make it look very twitchy.

The average player doesn't play close to that level and you would lucky (or unlucky) have people that good in an average round.

I'd recommend it mostly because if the shooty aspects don't suit you then you can still top the boards playing as a medic, or support, or recon by playing your role.

The game is in a good spot at the moment too. If you are interested in friendly older person non competitive clan play and have a mic I can help you there too. Our bunch of older fellas play BFV and a few other games also.

Anyone else think age is directly proportional to being rubbish at FPS's :)

In my case its definitely my age that is showing when I attempt any fast pace game lately. I use to be really good at CSGO, now only fighting game I can play is WWE hehe. Its my reflex, reaction time that is absolutely garbage compared to how it used to be. Mortal Kombat/CoD is out of the question now.
But I lost interest in fast paced shooters anyway and play more tactical ones.

Cool, I'll take a look at downloading it and give you a shout if that's ok. Cheers, mate.

I gave up on competitive FPS games...playing BFV with my 27 year old son and his mates was like being stuck in a phone box with a load of angry ferrets. I spent most of the evenings following my son around as a support guy chucking him ammo every now and then... when I wasn't being shot in the face by some spotty Yoof... and T-bagging his many kills out of pure old aged spite

I'll stick to shooting the NPC's in GR Wildlands instead...less like angry ferrets and more like sightly peeved, blind rabbits.

I used to be King of the Hill back in the early day's of Rainbow Six (late 90's). But now in my mid 50's I'm completely rubbish.
Put few hundred hours into PUBG and every time it's the same: Jump out of plane > Find gun > Die.

It's your eyesight failing. It's natures way of telling you to buy Planet Zoo. ;)

For all you youngsters who don't know what Cmdr Mander is on about. Drink the equivalent of 8 pints of lager, then try and play PUBG or Fortnite. Have fun. ;)

My reflexes aren't bad yet, as I can usually hold my own with the younger generation - "Old Duck" is in reference to millennials, not you truly old people, LOL. However, I'm not a fan of super-twitchy jumpy unrealistically high-speed games. So back in the good ol' days, I preferred Battlefield over Call Of Duty for this reason.

Overwatch can be a very fast game, a crazy furball even, but it's different than COD and most other "twitchy run and gun" games. It's like chess with adrenaline! And it's fun and hip (it doesn't take itself seriously), something that I can't say about war games, for which I have little stomach. The exception is Star Wars Battlefront, since that's a fantasy war with lasers.

Anyway, is me firm belief that you just go rusty quicker with age, but the mind is a marvelous piece. Training (i.e. playing) a thing can make what zips past you in the beginning appear like ample amount of time to react when you have muscle-memoried properly thus freeing process time for decision making in shooters.

You could try Warframe's. I was playing it a lot until they removed alerts. I am 63 and have to wear glasses to see the screen clearly to play.
I spent a fair bit of time playing Fortnite save the world as well but in the end the resource grind got to me. Good luck in your search.

You old fart. I used mostly melee in Warframe - if you go close n persnal all der tings go just big enough to see.

Arms 3 has huge tactical PVE games that go on for hours, with a mature community. It's quite the experience when you get into a community that uses teamspeak, coordinating joint operations.

On the server browser use the filter and select coop. Look for 77th JSOC in the browser. Be patient it's a hardcore vanilla server. So they take time organising the 60 to 70 players. It is so much fun. Calling in air support. Getting evacuated while under fire, escort missions. All this in one match that may last hours.

TF2 is free and not that twitchy, (well scouts are, so don't play them).

Also +1 for World of Tanks/Planes/Ships or Warthunder (also includes Tanks/Ships/Planes), and +1 for Left for Dead 2 co-op or versus.

Got time and like mods? Fallout 3/New Vegas and 4 have hours of play and with VATS aren't twitchy at all.

Been playing Doom, a lot of Arma, and some other games, fast paced games require a young body, as we get older we get slower, that’s just a fact of life. When I was young I could do a lot of stuff I would not even try doing now.

I would recommend multiplayer games that is aiming at more realistic approach as they are not as fast paced as the Arcady FPS out there.
