Franchise Community Challenge Discussion

Okay .. I'm at step 2 with 11 ( 12 now ), and you're at step 1 with 25. Jamie, how many and where are you ? That might give us an idea of how many the top x% of PC Franchise players are at

panics Are we the only players on PC rofl
I have only released 18 so far but am in "2nd place". But obviously we have already released a few percent of the goal all together and it's just not showing. I reaaally hope we get a fix, and preferably soon. :/

Thanks both for the suggestions
Already got the most appealing animals at a distance, and shops spread out; so a 2nd entrance might not feel like cheating . . .
And from my experience with career mode, transport rides themselves are a way to lose money, but I'd not considered the knock on effects of spreading the guests around.
And not heard of advertising screens at all, so will need to investigate . . .

But only selling the occasional animal for cash and just about breaking even for now, so will need to join this thread in refocusing on the challenge - sorry for the side quest
Well making the zoo being able to actually run is sort of part of the challenge too, so I personally don't consider that a side quest or off topic in any way. ;)
Regarding money - do you use exhibits? Because they are low cost to manage and you can set them to basically manage themselves with autoselling animals when they reproduce. They tend to be excellent money-makers. Especially some species. :)

Wow. What I want to know is how your friend got to 1000 already. I am at 30 and that felt like a major grind!

Can you share some strategy?
Just set up a breeding zoo, with minimal aesthetics just the basics to get welfare high enough for breeding. You need a powerful CPU to handle all the animals though.

Your friends as well ? Who released those 1000 or so ?
Everything is on PC. I don't actually know anyone who plays on console.

The exhibits are keeping me afloat: :)
Bats, Beetles; Butterflies and Spiders on automatic

But 15 baby Gharial under 3yrs, says I'm going to have a big problem by the time they mature!
Time to set up those other 4 butterfly walk-through exhibits!

The good news is that Gharials are also a good money maker .. so .. this challenge aside .. when money is tight .. sell a gharial or two. When I was doing one of the community run challenges .. the Gharial sales were keeping me afloat while I was building a killer of an African Safari habitat rofl.

Sudden thought .. what if that %age in game is OUR percentage and not the overall one ? Not that the website is any accurate. Just wondered with turkeyfox's friend showing 10% for their 1000 animals.
Found a support issue still open for an earlier challenge mentioning the %age not being correct, tagging on that the problem is still occuring and pointing them to turkeyfox's screenshot of their friends screen. Nevermind, can't put weblinks on the report.

I am the friend with 1000 releases. My ingame % raises with each 100 animals, so that is correct. But it does not seem to be a community challenge, if it is 10k per person? Something went wrong with this challenge and I hope enough people report it.

I will have 2k released by tonight, but I will not be able to reach 10k by the end of the challenge.

And for everyone wondering: Bengal Tigers are almost instantly on 3 stars. Just place them in the trade center, until their parents are around 14 years old. Release the parents (they should be 7500 - 5 stars by now). Get a new breeding pair and release the rest of the offspring.

70 Indian Peafowl ( 0 or 1 star ) , 65 Gharial ( 1 star ) ... having to switch them out to bring in the children from storage rofl.

Aha, I recognise that name rofl.

Peafowls seem quite happy in an African enclose with Zebras, Wildebeest, Ostriches etc
As that habitat gets the most footfall in my zoo, I'm dumping female peafowl in there, to see if popularity affects the star rating?
(and I'm far more lacking trade centre space, than money to feed them)

Also PC @Xrystal.

I have 2 strategy that are working good.

1 I have a good Bull elephant in a very large enclosure. I keep buy cheap cow elephants off the market, letting them breed and releasing the cow after it has bred. Generally, they will be at 3 stars almost as soon as they have had the baby. Once the babies grow up, I either store them in the trade centre or release them to keep my CC high. As my male has good stats, the babies generally release for more than mom was bought for.

2) I have 3 Tiger habitats. When infants grow up they get parked in the Trade Centre until they get paired up and put in one of the 3 habitats. I am putting a breeding pair in until they have babies and releasing soon after. They are always at 3 stars and can be released instantly. This allow me to keep some breeding stock, but cycle them quickly.

Well managed to get to 17 today .. but storage full again despite selling a bunch of animals the moment they grew up rofl, so gonna have to spend a few hours working on my other zoos to free up some space they are taking up rofl. Considering giving up on the Peafowl and Gharial .. or just having a single pair breeding rather than my usual harem and hope that that helps with the space/toy welfare which is affecting each of them due to sheer numbers.

So far the majority of my releases have been timber wolves. The pairs don't tend to be even stevens so it's usually a release at 3/4 stars or 2/3 stars depending on age of the one with the lower number.

I just viewed the source code for the challenge portion of the website for the PC and Console versions to see if I could see a potential glitch explaining why the website isn't updating correctly .. and I found this bit of information .. I'll just show the important stuff

title:"Tipping the Scales",
synopsis:"Release 10,000 3* animals from India to the Wild",
description:"Whether you prefer the royal stature of the Indian Elephant, or the colourful patterns of the Indian Peafowl, this week we need you to work together to release 3-star animals from the Indian subcontinent to the wild!",
quantity:10000,
event:"animal.release",
target:"BengalTiger, ChinesePangolin, Gharial, GreaterFlamingo, HimalayanBrownBear, IndianElephant, IndianPeafowl, IndianRhinoceros, SaltwaterCrocodile, TimberWolf, Binturong, CloudedLeopard, Dhole, SunBear, EurasianLynx, AsianSmallClawedOtter, WildWaterBuffalo, RedFox, Caracal, StripedHyena, AsianWaterMonitor, SlothBear, WildBoar\r\n",
percentile:{"0.01":V,"0.05":2,"0.10":3,"0.15":X,"0.20":5,"0.25":6,"0.65":bI,"0.90":20},

As you can see, ones we were expecting to work are listed here despite not working. Now, whether they have done a change to the challenges and forgot to update the website/challenge database I don't know. But I wonder if that is a factor to the crediting process being messed up. ponders

It would have been such a fun challenge if it only worked as planned 🥲🥲🥲

Yes I do feel like this would have been amazing if it had worked as intended.
We finally got numbers again! (I really hope they stick with that)
The animals "only" need 3 stars (5 star challenges usually feels a bit... too challenging).
And if the whole roster had worked we would have had really good variation on animals!

But I'm still enjoying it. As tigertimb says; it's great fun working together at least and trying to figure things out. I've also adjusted to what animals actually do the job so as long as our progress is just mistakenly hidden right now but will actually count in the end I'm okay. (although I still carry a small hope about a fix before the end)
