That could be true. The baby ostrich though ... repeatedly ran towards the same barrier segment during beta every time it was put back in.. it was as if there was no barrier there at all.
Saw that with little penguins, swimming straight through a chain fence
Lined the fence with rocks and they stopped - weirdly, only had to do that at the surface, below the water the fence worked!

Oh yeah, my penguins swim through stone and dirt under the water rofl. same spot as well, so I guess one of those, need to redo the habitat because it glitched out moments. Can't remember if I lined it with rock after the gazillionth escape. But working on the A zoo again, so they'll get their new habitat and I'll line the dirt under the water with stone, just to make sure.

Well thats a first. Put the elephants in, enlarged the areas until they were happy. Adjusted the African rollercoaster ( rofl ) safari track so it was high enough for the elephants to go through but wondering now if I need to have it all at ground level and risk blockages so that they can see the smaller animals while on the vehicles .. but ... the first I mentioned is the fact that it popped up that the habitat was too small after I mage my changes, I then made the habitat even bigger and you can see how happy the larger male elephant feels about things. But, maybe on an individual level they are all happy with their space but the zoo is telling me the space in general for all of the animals isn't enough. So probably will have to enlarge the habitat even further, put in underground viewers in for the areas too far from the track and viewing areas and adjust the track some more. I won't be surprised if the Indian Safari will need adjusting but it might be okay for the moment as it isn't a large harem for those ones so needs less space overall.

Could one of the elephants be trapped in a very small traversible area?

Edit: sorry, that was ages ago; guess you've solved it by now
Yeah, I was wondering that, but I didn't check every elephant so good point. I just made sure the biggest one had access to all areas it should have access to.

Well the message was gone when I loaded it up this morning. So maybe a delayed update issue.

Had 2 Indian Elephants born in the zoo but not silver rated so alas no credit. Immediately placed them in the nursery zoo ( GHI Zoo rofl )

Anyone know how to stop the elephants from bashing down the walls and escaping?

I'm using the thick glass, which is meant to be the correct grade 4, but they still just charge the barrier and the glass collapes

When the barrier condition drops below 100%, does that mean the strength drops below 4 almost immediately?
Am I therefore forced to use one of the stronger barriers?

Surely that means for any animal that states what strength it needs, it always needs a higher strength?
But then I've only ever seen Giraffes and Elephants actually bash a wall down

Not sure personally. I always use the white stone walls if not doing anything custom for anything needing 3 or above and wooden walls for the lower limits. The cost difference is minimal if at all.

I've only noticed Rhinos charging personally so got used to using the strongest most of the time. The one way glass still gets that shattered look over time but I usually have my engineers on 3 month visit cycle to check on wall repairs.

Maybe they need more space to run and rampage rofl.

Replaced all my barriers with grade 6 concrete - barrier status 98% and the fairly small female has still just bashed it down!

They're using 1/4 of the space available; and her welfare is 99% with 100% enrichment, and all her social contacts are in her habitat

Running low on ideas - 4 walls knocked down in a month :(

Going to try making the walls higher, so that the elephants can't see over them!
- maybe the elephant prefers the look of the grassland habitat compared to it's own tropical one ;)

Trying this:
- Tropical habitat - solid concrete 2.45m
- Grassland habitat - concrete with plain glass windows 4.15m
- Temperate habitat - concrete with one way glass 2.45m
- Aquatic habitat - as before, concrete with plain glass 2.45m
Lets see how they do . . .

The breeding cheat ... kills off the connection .. literally.

I thought it weird when I was looking at the mother that she was having 2 babies but only 1 baby came, checked the zoo I put all the babies in and et voila .. he's there showing her as dead .. but his 3 just born siblings one from the same mother being carried to the habitat rofl.

I shan't be using the cheat anyway

Stubborn pride being the main reason

But I always optimise game time for births, when I really should be optimising playing time
It still seems quicker just to let the game run, rather than spending all my time hopping between zoos

Yeah, if I didn't have a zoo that needed the elephants I wouldn't be doing it rofl. A zoo is getting the African babies and the GHI zoo are getting Indian babies :) When the challenge ends I'll decide then what to do with the babies. Technically the Alphabet Zoos are for making sure I have all animals researched somewhere .. I found out that if you remove all of the animals for a species the research stops and you have to start over. Happened to me big time. I have to redo Polar Bear because I somehow removed the one and only one I had when it was first introduced along with its research rofl.

Yeah, I used to restart every few months. Several years later I noticed my research count was low despite having done it years back .. that's when I noticed most of the research was wiped out.

As a guideline My research status is 224/224 with 199 animals showing as researched ( no polar bear on list ) and 25 diseases. Although, looking at the zoopedia. It shows 202 animals on the full list. Which means there are another 2 that I haven't got in my zoos anywhere. Hopefully the new animals because I couldn't get hold of them when I did the research, but I am pretty such I completed all their researches already. I think it's time to change my Alphabet Zoos as the research angle and restart with Research Zoos. As long as they have at least one animal in it should be fine. So no need for super sized habitats, just the minimum needed for the minimum group. Any babies they have can be distributed to the appropriate zoos. Aha .. Nursery Zoos, rofl. Funny how problems inspire you rofl.

Oh, and the cheat this is the page for the father ( definitely alive ) showing the children as imminent births rather than alive and living in other zoos rofl.

Yes this always happens. Most of my animals have their parents in another zoo (to manage genetic diversity) and they always show as "dead" even if they're not. I have no clue why that is but I just accepted it and moved on. ;)

~~
On another note! Really glad to see the challenge move along this quickly! We'll be done in no time if this keeps up!

Yeah there must be a reasonable number of people trying as my 5 births so far have put me on the silver podium already. Oh yeah 27% now, was 10% when I got up and checked this morning.

Random heads up - underground lakes don't seem to count towards water requirements and worse; they seem to confuse the game

Even after removing the lake and placing it on the surface, the elephants space requirements were just showing green boxes without any numbers
Had to exit to main menu and reload to get them to display properly
