Frontier: Can you please define your understanding of "Limited"

It's just about people "feel" about this move.
Will they buy another "limited" thing of the store or will they just wait if it shows up again some time later for cheap?

Now for me, i won't buy "limited" stuff because it is advertised as such.
It would have to be something that cries out "hey that's me".

Will I continue to make my videos?

For now, yes

Will I continue to purchase items from the store?

Like you, I'm going in with a warning of caveat emptor, I'll no longer just throw money at Frontier like I was willing to do up till now. I certainly won't be buying a boxed copy of the game.

Will I continue to stand by Frontier when people criticise their decisions?

Most likely not, now. Despite was some might think I'm not some corporate shill of Frontier. I had faith in them, maybe a little blind faith. I now see what others are seeing.

This isn't about the skins - hell I think the flag ones are tacky, I only bought the Finnish one to impress my girlfriend. If people want to fly with them, go at it but to me you ship looks like this

It's about Frontier's total lack of skill at communication, and what I see as a continuing lack of respect.

You used a word that was emotive and has a meaning, you then within two months turn back on that and drop a big one on the fans who supported you up till now by not only reversing how you used the word in time, but by offering the same thing at a much lower price.

You've lost on of your supporters today in that.

Edit: I hope Frontier you do come and answer this post with a STRAIGHT AND HONEST ANSWER. Then maybe you can restore some faith for me and others.

I honestly also interpreted the "limited" as "never again", but I am in fact glad it does not. I'd rather see stuff like that not limited to some exclusive time period where you miss out forever if you find out too late about the offer, or the game itself.

I also hope that the current free Cobra paint shop package will remain in the store and simply receive a normal price tag after this special offer where they are free.

But are you happy the same items that were "limited" before are now not limited, but also 1/2 the price you paid for them 2 months ago?

To me, that's the slap.

It was even written that the flag skins "would be gone forever". This is a little weird indeed.

I thought so too, I have tried to find it but I couldn't. If you can then I would appreciate it.

I'll be surprised if they care.

FD is a commercial organisation. It exists to make money. That's it.

Well, in retrospect, the wording still makes sense as they apparently meant "time-limited, non-exclusive".

But I must say I am mostly speaking from a very subjective point of view, albeit one that that welcomes the return of those skins.

Objectively speaking, I suppose the wording was open to interpretation and (unintentionally) misleading.

I'm not even a milking stool lawyer and don't want to touch this aspect at all.
It's just how it comes across to the customers...
Another thing in regards to PR that might not work as intended...

I just don't care whether a skin is labeled 'limited' or not.
If I like it I like it and I won't like it less if everybody else has it.
Neither would I buy a 10 or 15 euro skin because it was labeled 'limited', 'special', 'ultra special', 'multi-ultra-special-limited-super-deluxe' or whatever they can think of.
If I feel a skin is worth 15 bucks I will buy it, if I feel it is not, I will not buy it. I don't care about the 'limited' thing whatsoever. Terminology like that is generally meaningless when digital products are concerned.
Things like discounts happen all the time. I might perhaps get upset, because I bought an item when it was obviously too expensive, but I would never blame the retailer for it. And in the case of FD I hope this will bring in some extra money for them.
Also I am happy with the more affordable prices and decided to jump in now.

This might feel pretty selfish and arrogant but actually might explain partly how I feel about this:

I was at the party on Saturday.

A big part of that was telling their fans how much they owed to them to get the project off the ground, and support them along the way. Even a few Frontier staff (including DB himself) knew who I was and thanked me.

We were made to feel special, like we were unique snowflakes.

Now I'm being told actually I'm just cash cows and it doesn't matter than I paid more for the game, but also that it doesn't matter that I paid more for cosmetic items too even if they were supposed to be "limited".

Yeah 'Caveat Emptor' is kinda illegal in the UK, troublesome to enforce perhaps but still technically against the law, Bad FD!

Holy cow I had already totally forgotten about the boxed copy, must immediately purchase. I'm kinda glad the flags are back because I was dithering over whether to get the Denmark skin, because awesome amirite? still am actually. Bit miffed about the whole limited edition skins no longer being very limited and as much as it sticks in my craw to say it. It never made much sense to to me, to make the flag skins limited in the first place really. They cost peanuts anyway so meh, half of peanuts is still peanuts.

Wear and tear is still too fast though, pls fix.

Clearly the issue is not important to you. But it is to others. It is not necessarily of no importance on this account.

I liked the idea that if I came across another player that was also flying a flag, he was another alpha/premium beta backer,,,,,, now that is not going to happen....

But this is exactly why the rules exist. Some people *do* care if it's limited. The whole idea of something being "limited" is that it is supposed to be something that (a lot) of others cannot get. That's the whole thing behind "limited editions" - the fact that they are limited adds value.

Personally I'd be pretty irate but I'm a bit bull-headed when it comes to this stuff (even though I'm not somebody who would buy something like this just because it was "limited"). As it is, I'm quite happy to pick up a skin for £1.50 today. I might even grab another couple (actually I won't now due to reading this) - but that doesn't change the fact that some people who bought these under the impression that they were limited are fully justified in being really irritated by it.

I'll put this here, as it's something I have otherwise commented on on Twitter.

I can see TBs point. It's not the fact of limited, its the half price now vs. 'full-price' when it was bought the first time around.

I would feel it decent if the guys/gals at FD look at it from the point of view of those that bought it at the original price for this limited set and provide a goodwill voucher equivalent to the difference paid. It put's all purchasers then and now on an even footing on this limited item.

IMO.

This has been happening over on the Star Citizen site for a long time now, but there it's ships often costing hundreds of dollars that turn out to be not-so-limited after all. "Limited time" is the get-out clause. Still misleading though, legal or not.
