Frontier confirmed - Murder/PKing is a valid gameplay choice, can we all move on now?

It's not my fault I've found love on the Frontier forum, I only wish everyone could be as happy as I am right now.

I've known MrPSB for almost 18 years now and I can confirm he is a terrible man and also having shenanigans on this thread

Edit 2: I think some people have been confused by my "move on" comment. I don't mean move on from talking about PvP or balancing - just this whole "all PvP is griefing" attitude because Frontier have basically now said it's not.

Don't you find the thread and it's topic line to be a touch... provocative?

Nobody in their right mind has ever claimed that PvP wouldn't be a part of Elite. Michael's comment can be read with a very different emphasis as well. Here, let me quote you the relevant bit.

however there should be consequences for such actions which the game needs some tightening on.

Devs have stated this is getting fixed. What other complaint do you have?

Because no matter what FDev do the
bunch of rude, no talent and spiteful people trying to deliberately ruin the game for others
will find another way to be rude and spiteful and ruin people's game. That's what is not clear is being dealt with. This is not PvP... This is Pv>*Poof* in a puff of smoke<

I think a lot of the issue is that a lot of Traders forget about #5 and prefer to alt-tab out to spacetruckergals.com and wonder why they get blasted. Remember point #2, someone is ALWAYS out to get you! Pay attention to your radar... if there's a shark lurking in the water, don't go into the water.

It also applies in Combat situations. I've never had the issue of shooting space police since I started paying attention to what's around me - if I see something coming in to my vision I STOP shooting and have never been wanted for bounty hunting accidents since.

They changed the AI to stop flying directly in front of people.

And if you read my posts you'll see your point in bold I agree with you.

I would argue it's less provocative that people shouting GRIEFERS all the time. I can at least point to some evidence that backs up my assertion.

They also claimed they will be looking into updating the bounty system to provide more punsihment. So what is left?

Why shouldn't I play in open play just because other people choose to be sociopaths? They shouldn't be allowed to ruin my gameplay experience and limit the modes I can play in with a game I PURCHASED.

There are actual PvP flying games for killing other players. This isn't one of them. Those that do it will eventually realize this. Not that PvP doesn't have it's place here. But the developers are looking for a meaningful space sim that meets the vision of preceding games.

I play War Thunder for dedicated PvP, it's what it is designed for. Some of you should try that game, especially with the disadvantage of joystick vs 21st century mouse control. Much more rewarding and challenging (with a joystick, kind of casual with mouse) for PvP if that's your thing.

The developers decide what is and what is not a pvp game, and Frontier have decided that open play in ED allows open pvp, no matter how hard you or others might wish otherwise. Now stop whining about it, and deal with the realities of the game, if you dont want pvp, stop playing in open, it really is that simple.

CmdrPSB everyone has purchased this game including the pvpers, and it doesn't grant any of us special privileges. Antmax, arcade mode in WT is pvp lite with training wheels, now try playing sim mode for a real challenge.

It would be cool if at a certain level of faction alignment you could act as official security for a station maybe be able to fire on ships with bounties in and around the station.

So long as they don't make open mandatory it don't concern me in the least. Now if it was forced upon me to have to go into open then I would not be happy.

Funny that some players still think that open will be a nice warm fuzzy safe place, I fortunately know better and that it is human nature to conquer, so I avoid that mode.

Well, there are accidents...then there are ACCIDENTS.

In Game systems do not make a flea's poo of a difference to these kind of players. Bounty? Wipe save. Done!

Then why do you insist on playing with these cheating low lifes. Stay in solo or play with the PvE group. Stop trying to dictate what you think is fairplay to those that don't care?

I stated in a previous post that I dont think the changes will be harsh enough. I think that repeated offences should see the offender eventually outlawed, unable to land in civilized, law abiding stations anywhere.

I had an ACCIDENT reading this thread.

For those moments that are so anxiety causing:

We will have to see. The point of penalties isn't to stop the crime from happening, that would be very easy. FDEV have stated exactly this. They just want to make it painful enough to limit the player base from overindulgence.
