Hi.

Look FD, 3.3 is amazing, but frankly, an Xbox Controller or the T.flight HOTAS simply lack the buttons for this new version of the game.

I think many will agree that it's time for keyboard support, "advantages" be damned. This game is getting bigger, and that means we need bigger control options.

You need to talk to Microsoft. Although I'm not sure about a console game which requires a keyboard. That's crosses a line, I think.

Question - Fortnite supports K&M on PS4, does it not on XBox? There are other games like War Thunder that also support K&M. Ironically, even ED supported a couple hidden keyboard commands (for example, CTRL-B) until they removed it. In other words, I see no reason why ED can't bring K&M support to PS4, but I'm curious now about XBox. Can you folks use K&M with your "desktop" and web browser?

There's a lot of noise over in dastardly dramas about PC KB/mouse players running out of keys on the keyboard for the additional bindings too.

Saying that, the FSS and the HUD selector are basically mode switch buttons and the only 2 that need a separate input. Once I activate the FSS scanner, I use the primary trigger on the X56 for the zoom and the stick X and Y axes for moving it about. The secondary fire button I use for probes.

I'm not sure about the tuning thingy since I just fired it on one of the rotary switches I had spare, but I assume one of the thumb sticks on the controller could be used for that...FDev have always been very creative with control inputs via a controller right from the start so no doubt, they've come up with something a bit more intuitive than folks are giving them credit for.

Is the new FSS/probe/HUD selector clunky? Perhaps...but I didn't find it so once I had got used to the basic newness of concept.

@Old Duck dunno mate, I've never tried the keyboard on the browser. It's a horrible clunky interface anyway, it's quicker to use my phone

268 button/key-binds, not including all the modifying settings and joystick/throttle axes that need to be bound. I do not see how console players can even do it . . . o7

Yep', that's why I started the topic.

I haven't seen anything in the beta forum, I'm staying away as much as possible. But if I can't do it on my Thrustmaster I'm not doing it.

Couldn't agree more.

I'll plug my Thrustmaster into my PC tonight and see if it works. I can't imagine it's going to be any different than navigating the galaxy map and system map. That's really all the FSS is, another map...albeit interactive.

Thanks! That's what I guessed too. Even turn on turn off should be doable with the same combo, aye?

Keyboard/mouse is "officially" not supported yet, Microsoft did confirmed that it will come, so we don't have to talk to Microsoft anymore, just wait...

In WarThunders case its probably more a fortunate bug then a design decision. ( I don't argue its awesome, since, i use it alot)

As soon as Microsoft fully officially supports Keyboard / mouse officially, i have no doubt Frontier will look into it.

It's only a matter of time.

But then agian, I dont need it, my HOTAS configuration can do it all, and with 3.3 I tent to use my right systems panel more as well.

And, how many buttons do you need the system/Galaxy map?

While in map mode, i still have the majority of my buttons empty, dunno what ur talking about.

I'm using an Xbox controller to play the beta and it works fine. They used an Xbox controller on the livestream to show it off as well. I didnt have to map anything. People using sticks have had to binds things, but seriously I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Just to clarify, the Xbox controller is mapped really good, so don't worry about it. Sticks I don't know as I dont have any for my PC or Xbox to test.
