Frontier. Please make a PVE mode to this game.

I would play mostly in open PVE if there were such a mode, so I'm all for it, but I can manage without one.
I play mostly Solo today, and private groups is sufficient when I want company.
One thing gained by an open PVE mode would be the ability to help out/get help without planning ahead.
 
Let's turn it on the head then. Let's say PVP was not possible in Open, only in Private Groups. Then a large number of PVP players start requesting the ability to PVP in Open. But the PVE players just dismiss all their arguments. Why yet another mode? They can already PVP all they want in PG! Do you think the PVP players would be satisfied with that?

Well its not quite turning it on its head is it, because it is possible to PvE in Open. But I will concede that I was wrong about one thing, there aren't two modes already you can 100% PvE in, there are three

PvE* is possible, but not guaranteed, in the two multi-player modes - unlike Solo where it is guaranteed.

*: i.e. the absence of direct PvP; ignoring that the possibility of indirect PvP through the BGS, CGS and Powerplay is a part of the game that every player engages in.

No new modes needed. C and P is not needed. .

i agree for many players the game is not desperate for new modes and can survive with what it has (ideally with better management tools for PG and increased capacity.

but no C&P needed??? really?

PvP / PvE or what ever, even those role playing serial killers i would have thought would admit that the current lack of C&P is a joke and does nothing to protect the citizens of a faction, even in a high sec system.... and as such is desperately needed
 
Should be a PvE flag that is set/unset at the beginning of each login session that cannot be changed during a session, a set PvE flag would mean you cannot target other players and they cannot target you.

Not being able to be targeted changes nothing - fixed weapons would still cause damage to untargeted ships, as would collision damage, etc..

You realize that hits are software?, in other words they can be set not to register, in other words no interaction between PvP->PvE, PvE->PvE, PvE->PvP, but PvP<->PvP can continue to fire and kill each other to their hearts content.

There was no mention of changing the damage model in the post I quoted.

Civil War eh? Yeah I suppose that seems apt.

Then again why can't they put it to a vote of registered commanders like they did for Ship Transfers? Surely this is as big a question?
