IMO, Too Soon for mentioning PP20 in more than one generic line of text
This and a definitive release date for the Python MK II. 1/4 of 2024 is already gone. 9 months left for "at least" 4 new ships.
Never too soon- the power groups need a heads up, know what the transition will look like, what the rules are etc. as well as just cluing us in to what FD really intend for it. Its either going to need several videos (like V1) or some detailed explainer. You could also focus on (if any) new leaders, current leaders (and what you'll be doing for them).
Add to that people will be able to see issues that might be corrected before release, saving FD time.

Although my interest in PP (any version) is marginally above zero (and I do understand that others are considerably more interested) I agree entirely with your reasoning - it is time to start talking about it - without "excited for you to find out" type fluff.
FD need to brief you @Rubbernuke privately, then have you present the whole kaboodle in words that will trickle icy-cold fingers of dread down every reader's spine...

This also applies to comments on what is coming- given it has to hit the ground running between competitive player groups any flaw or oversight still has time to be addressed. In the end FD can ask but also its up to them to act or not on that feedback.
Exactly. Also, given that Frontier have repeatedly said this summer and Q2, it's too late for them to make any major changes now. So, releasing any previews or such risks causing controversy before the release, rather than at it... and since we're talking about a competitive feature here, "controversy" would be putting it lightly.
Mind you, Frontier might still decide that it'd be worth the risk, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Well FD can at least learn from V1s launch, where only the absolute basics were given. Added to that you are essentially swapping out a layer of the game thats between groups already running. For example, will the swap be 'on the day' or will V1 be taken down cycles beforehand given its heavily server based? How will the swap deal with translating territory?
If FD want V2 to be a success they have to put the time in with us just as much as in the code.
Its more about balance and low level niggles rather than major changes (such as weighting / decay(
) or other mechanic). Its trying to avoid tritium level like aggro.I can understand not giving too much away because groups would then start optimizing for the new rules though.
Well, you were asking for info for the purpose of being able to offer consultancy based on that info - aka "do that, dont do this".
Now imagine everyone having a different opinion about "do that, dont do this" and every opinion being equally valid and everyone wanting various things from PP20
I won't really envy the FDev designers when PP20 will be revealed.
