Frontier Xtra - March Questions

Hi Park Managers

As this month's Frontier Xtra livestream draws closer, we're looking for our Question of the Month!

What do you want to know about the games industry, Frontier itself, or the Community Managers/Developers? This is your chance to get some insight into the games industry as a whole, and learn all about what it's like, how to get into it or anything else you may be wondering. We dedicate this section of the stream to answering one of your questions, so providing it's relevant to the games industry, please put your questions in this thread and we'll pick this month's favourite to discuss.

If you're struggling for ideas on what to ask, previous questions have asked for information on different ways to get into the industry, what kind of preparation goes into a livestream, and what's a day in the life of a Community Manager at Frontier.

The next Frontier Xtra is 22 March at 15:00 UTC, we can't wait to see you there!

How much (if at all) do console limitations restrict the development of the game (for example island sizes)?

While playing the game (like in the streaming sessions), was there ever a moment that was quite annoying or frustrating? And did you consult the developers about this to see if it is possible to improve it?

What, in your opinion, are the biggest strenghts of JWE and what are the biggest weaknesses and how do they come to be? (for example because of the engine, console limitations...)

Can we talk about the islands, and their natural environments?

I know this isn’t about the games industry, but I would love it if we could get some information on the design process for the islands themselves, and what opportunities there are in future to give park builders more control over the natural environments in the park. I know you won’t tell us if anything is coming, but could the developers maybe explain the process of how the existing terrain was designed, and what they had to factor in, in terms of how the dinosaurs move up and down hills, or on diffferent textures like sand vs grass? What about water? Why is water set to a certain depth? Could you explain in more detail how dinosaurs interact with any one particular piece of terrain and what goes into that process, like different sounds, or does the terrain itself react? Are we limited to only one type of tree because of a technical standpoint, or is there an oppprtunity to have different kinds of forest in future?
