I think what's more ludicrous than only having one technologically advanced sentient species in a galaxy of 400 billion stars, is having only two.

Lets not get carried away, given the state of Earth it's difficult to qualify humans as a sentient species.

The Drake Equation's biggest limiting factor is L - being the number of years a species is technologically advanced enough to send signals into space, but haven't (yet) blown themselves up.
