Futuristic Interiors?

Don't forget, some of those ship designs are hundreds of years old. The first Pythons launched in the 2700s - that's about 600 years ago. I assume the whole "70s vibe" that's going on with the Python interior and exterior is deliberately designed to send a message: "this is not a fashionably new spaceship".
They don't make ships like they used to. 600 years later and ship builders still can't make a better medium sized ship.

Back when the Python was invented, it was a "large ship". Navies were using them as front-line cruisers and they'd have needed a couple dozen crew to fly. These days, they're a single-pilot ship. Isn't automation wonderful?
