Newcomer / Intro Galaxy Map, a little help please.

I've been around since Premium Beta and have been zipping along quite happily.

The only issue I had prior to Gamma 2.0 was my trade routes kept resetting to only show Metals (titanium and platinum).

With the release of ED 1, I don't seem to get any interaction with the Galaxy map at all.

No Map details with regards to allegiance, economy, etc... or any trade routes displayed.

Is this a bug? or a feature in as much as I only get details of the systems I fly to?

Really struggling to get any where now, without being able to filter the systems for easy recognition it's like flying blind

There should be an option in the VIEW-tab in the Mapscreen, to select "Show-by-Color" scheme, select either economy, government etc.
However, trade-route data is something you acquire when you land at a station - or buy it via the map by clicking on the system in the map. You'll get a row of icons where one of them may present your with an option to buy more map-data or trade-data.

I've tried selecting and deselecting all the options and the Galaxy map display stays resolutely fixed as the 'realistic' look.

A shame because I had no problems before launch and not being able to filter the systems makes any kind of trading/ exploration pretty difficult.

Oh, hm, yes if you select the Map mode instead of 'realistic' it should definitively change. Any chance of demonstrating your issue using pictures or video? perhaps we can get an idea, but it definitively sounds like your having some sort of issue right there yes.

it is certainly not bugged.

I stream too so now and then but not on regular times.

Sorry I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to uploading pics and videos (don't have any image hosting or a you tube account).

That aside, if you want an idea of my problem, go to the View panel of the Galaxy map and press the realistic tab and then press the map tab. The only difference I get is if I click on the Realistic tab the filter settings dim slightly and become unselectable.
Click on the Map tab and I can click to my hearts content on the filters but nothing happens, the stars still glint in their realistic splendour, with nary a hint of a colour overlay.

I'll see if I can get any joy from submitting a bug report.

I thought i had the same problem, but i found that i needed to zoom out quite a ways before the trade routes would display. Also found that regardless of zoom level, there was a significant delay in displaying them, i don't know if the client is querying the server every single time and it is just communications lag, but it kinda looks the same

Left it for a good 5 minutes while I made a cup of tea, no joy, although the tea was excellent.

I'm starting to think it may be related to the Galaxy Map issue I had that came in around the last beta build. The filters would reset to just metals (titanium and platinum).
Right now the galaxy map view filters reset to Allegiance and All trade goods selected every time I enter the map.

Have spent a bit more time investigating the Galaxy map features.
The Information and Navigation tabs seem to be working as intended. Mousing over a star gives the basic information, and I can carry out searches and see differing routes dependant on cargo load.
However, the issue seems to be with the last two tabs, with zero functionality.
The View panel on map mode makes no difference.
Went into the preferences tab and set some of those options and it made no difference either.
The grid remained in view when I toggled it off as did the star names, and the constellations refuse to display when toggled on.

What I'm gonna suggest isn't going to go down well.

Since most of the commenters can't recreate the issue it seems to me to potentially be a local issue. Try verifying game files from launcher options or *gulp* uninstall/reinstall

Finally found a thread on the Support Forum from a player with the same issue.

They uninstalled and reinstalled to no effect.
Verifying the game files was one of the first things I did when I finally found the option to do that

That sounds suspiciously like the first issue I had where my Galaxy Map would reset itself to display Metals (Titanium/Platinum) whenever I opened it.
As it's now obvious it's not a simple switch/menu option I'm failing to find and more likely a bug I'll pursue further comments on the Technical Support forum.
