Galaxy map question

Okay after making my first trip to Sagittarius A*, I ran into a small problem about 10k LY away, that got very large the closer i got. Route plotting times, and lag in the galaxy map go way up. I think just to plot some 300-600 ly routes were 8+ minutes. while sometimes i could plot a 1k LY route and it take just a few seconds like normal.

So my question is, Is there a way to reduce map lag? I turned off everything i could, i even tried turning off fastest route, i turned every setting as low as it could go, but nothing helped.

Lol yeah i figured out what caused it really quick. Because once you get about 10k LY away you cross pretty much last major gap between arms i believe. And from there its crazy. What i think they should do is how we can switch between fastest travel and most economical. Have the ability to turn those off, and when plotting a route pick between one of the two. Or at the very least have some way of keeping the game from trying to plot every possible jump you can make.

Lol, join the club. I am 8 kylies out and I am already single star plotting. Too many stars, the poor algorithm has too much choice. You can tell just by selecting fast navigation, in normal space there are probably about 20-30 possible jumps from your star, in the core the number of blue lines from the star are mental, 100's if not 1,000's so route planning is a total mare, which is one reason we want to plot routes by single way points.

I had the same problem on my way to galactic core. Solution is to fly above or below the galaxy disc, where star density is much lower.

That's one reason I am staying clear of galactic core: I thought it was my old PC suffocating with shedload of stars and routes, but then I saw that some monster rigs are also having problems.

There are a couple of things you can do to make things slightly better (emphasise SLIGHTLY).

Switch to Realistic view mode and zoom right up to the system. Select the system first, then hit route.
If it still takes a long time, cancel out of map, and if you're in supercruise then drop to regular space. If you're in regular space, hop into supercruise and drop back out into regular space again.
Go into the map and yet to plot your route again. If it takes more than a couple of minutes, consider reducing the total distance plotted in one go.

You can also come in high or low, 1000-1500ly above or below the galactic plane. The star density is slightly less there and you can approach closer to the location of SagA* before either rising up or diving down to it.

Sorry to be off-topic, but how do you manage such huge distances? My cobra can only jump about 10 light years... it would take me days of real time to travel so far....

I think you need to reconsider your load out if you want to go exploring! And remember those 300-600ly routes will be multiple jumps not one HUGE jump :D

I think my Cobra can do 22ly jumps on a full tank. My current Asp does 32.87ly with a full tank and I'll be getting a little more with a bit more fine-tuning next time I'm back in the bubble.

With a nose-bleedingly expensive fuel scoop and a 30ly jump ship, you can do 1000ly in about 30 mins if you put the hammer down and dont stop to scan.

But it still does a fastest or economical based on whatever was last selected? Seems odd but, hey, I'm not going to argue. I just hit the area last night where it took a noticeable amount of time to plot, so my days of 1,000LY plots are likely done. :/
