MILITARIES ON ALERT AS TARANIS APPROACHES

28 NOV 3308
The Hyades Sector FB-N b7-6 system has been identified as the location where the rogue signal source named Taranis will finally arrive.

Professor Ishmael Palin gave a statement to confirm the findings of several scientific groups:

“Data correlated from many long-range scans proves that the anomaly’s velocity is reducing steadily. At its present rate of descent, Taranis will arrive at Hyades Sector FB-N b7-6 in approximately 24 hours. I have sent a research team, led by my colleague Dr Leroux, to gather data on its arrival.”

Admiral Maxton Price of the Federal Navy commented:

“Fortunately, this particular system is uninhabited so no populations are directly at risk. We are monitoring the situation rather than deploying capital ships. Civilian traffic is ordered not to enter Hyades Sector FB-N b7-6 until we know more about Taranis’s capabilities.”

The Alliance Defence Force issued a similar announcement from Admiral Rachel Ziegler:

“The Thargoids’ overall strategy remains unknown, as does the true nature of these rogue signal sources. But there is certainly no reason to place ourselves in their path intentionally. It’s possible that, as with HIP 22460, the Hyades Sector FB-N b7-6 system could become a no-go zone occupied by an overwhelming number of Thargoid vessels.”

Despite making no official statement, it is believed that the Imperial Navy is likewise holding back from deploying a military fleet to the Taranis anomaly. Independent analysts have suggested that the destruction of the Kingfisher megaship in Hyades Sector YO-Q b5-1 has contributed to the superpowers’ caution, with capital ship losses in HIP 22460 also fresh in the memory.

That's an interesting way of describing something which has fluctuated with no particular pattern between 0.18 and 0.47 LY/hour for seven of the last eight system transits with no particular trend of increase or decrease, except for when it for no obvious reason reached 12.5 LY/hour briefly for its post-Kingfisher transit of Hyades Sector YO-Q b5-4. There was a "step down" deceleration around the start of November but no meaningful pattern since.

Hyades Sector FB-N b7-6 is 5.36 LY from Swahku which it will traverse at ~16:30, so to get there within approximately 24 hours of Palin's statement at (best case) 13:00 or at any rate to be there for the 15:00 server opening, it would need to travel at an average speed of around 0.25 LY/hour ... which is an acceleration from its current speed.

As with Chase being able to obtain accurate information on when and where the Kingfisher could intercept it weeks in advance of any plausible observational study, it's another one for "do the superpowers know perfectly well what these things are and where they're going, and just need some plausible deniability of how that information gets out?"

"there is certainly no reason to place ourselves in their path intentionally"

Hand up who's going to place themselves in their path intentionally?

🖐
Slowly starts to raise his hand, notices Rubbernuke's post, slowly lowers his hand, quietly calls Uber to see what fleet carriers are leaving today for a place referred-to only as "anyplace else." o_O😱

Such a big dissapointment this is. So no war in Update 14 either.
3 major faction just chickened out. What a rediculuos story. I don't think i can wait another 3-6-9-if ever month for the story to develop in to all out war. Legacy here i come!

Why even add a picture of Megaships if no one is going to deploy them? This game turns more in to Star Citizen .jpeg.
Should replace it with an empty picture of space, cause that's the reaction of NPC's in the game to this event they have been hyping for 3 month.

An entire Megaship litterary just got blown up days ago, and they send more sheep to the slaughter? Who write this stories? Is this the same moment when Danny forgot about Greyjoy fleet in Game of Thrones?
