Game Performance

Hi Colleagues,

I have some troubles with my Zoo, the Zoo beginns to lack :(
I have

  • 118 Employees
  • 3600 - 4500 Guests
  • 223 Animals

My Specs meet the suggested ones

  • I7-7th Generation
  • 16 GB RAM
  • Nvidia Geforce GTX1070
  • Game is on SSD
The problem is i can not limit the guest capacity as it is a Franchise Zoo. Or could I save the whole ZOO somehow and place it as Sandbox again???
Do you have any sugesstions?

Thx,

You can limit the visitor capacity in Franchise zoos. Just open the game options, and set the limit. It works in Franchise mode just as well as Challenge and Sandbox since the 1.03 patch. I set a limit in all my franchise zoos

You have to go to Settings->Game, and then expand the "Guests Settings" part at the bottom, then check the check box and lastly adjust the slider to the limit you want. Once you do all that your visitor count will always remain just below the limit you set. The screenshot below shows this in one of my franchise zoos. It had like 7000 visitors before I set the limit shown.

My only other suggestion is to restart the game every few hours if you play for more than 2 to 3 hours at a time. For me, at least, performance degrades the longer I play so restarting regularly keeps it running better.

I’m no computer expert but I would think that’s somewhat normal. To me 118 employees with 3600-4500 guests plus 223 animals is a lot going on. Planet zoo and planet coaster are very cpu hungry games that will make even the best pc run slow.

thanks for your answers!
Sorry I missed in my post, to mention that I tried already to limit the guests capacity to 3000, but then I loose to much money :S.

Make sure you have donation boxes at every single habitat and exhibit, near where people gather to view the animals and that you have ATMs scattered all over the zoo so people don't run out of money no matter where they are. And lastly, control your biggest expenses, which are feeding costs and staff salaries. Do not over-train your staff, do not have more staff than you need, and limit the population of animals that are super-expensive to feed.

For my zoos, I've limited visitor count in all of them, and money hasn't been an issue at all. Most of them are making 100,000+ a year profit.

Staff is a big one that I think people over-do. I only use 1 or 2 vets in any of my zoos, even the big ones, and I don't train any of my keepers past 2 stars unless they work on a habitat that is really big with many different animals in it (then I'll take them all the way to 5). Also you don't need one keeper for each habitat. A single 2-star keeper can handle 2 or 3 normal sized habitats. Because they do need breaks though, what I do is assign work zones with 3-5 habitats in them, and assign 2-4 keepers to the work zone, based on what is needed to keep it clean and animals fed. The main key is to have the keeper hut and a staff room both nearby and centrally located, as those are cheaper to maintain then keeper salaries it makes sense to have them all over the park as needed.

This is also down to user expectations, my zoo hit 7500 visitors for the first time last night and it is playable but i had to drop to medium settings and I play a lot zoomed out, pausing when i zoom in to do stuff.
