Powerplay Gameplay balance in PP

Greetings CMDRs.

Lets discuss about gameplay balance in Powerplay. I am about 4 weeks now in PP, Archon Delaine, 5 Rank. Playing 4-5 time in week ~3 hours per session. So all this stuff is my IMHO, but i am interesting how you feel the PP too, what do you want to change.

I am falling in love with idea of cooperate with group of people with same interests, but it was not feeling until i am started communicate with them on forum. So my first impression was to have more forms to coordinate our actions. Voting system looks nice option, it will be better to have dynamic vote for every directions (expansion, fortification, undermining, preparation) to actually focusing our actions on particular systems. It can be implements in galactic map. I mean dynamic because goals can be changes during cycle and it will be nice to have opportunity to move your points to next target.

The main goal for which most player involved into PP is getting rank 5 and 50kk, but its should not be like that. Benefits from owning the rank should be main goal, that why they should be fair enough to attract new payers. Right now there is no balance in benefits between Powers. I guess most of players goes to Lavigny-Duval because it way profitable. Most of players doing undermining like a grind, just to get rank 5 faster because it way profitable from fortification or expansion. I guess it will be downgrade in 1.4 with new interdiction system, but it should not be pain in ass too, making different count of merits per type of ship should help i guess. Same thing can work in Resistance pockets when expansion with less amount of counts because of a lot of spawn. Also i didnt find any profit from destroying NPCs enemy ships in our own systems. Merits and decreasing undermining looks like nice option.

Yes, there is always will be grind, but it should be well balanced and enough comfortable. Fortification is a big issue for me. I like the idea, i doing it a lot but i dont like how it works. Every Power should doing it every cycle so its a bit of a grind. But to be effective when i am focusing on it i should use timer, every 30 min i should be in the same system, i cant focusing on other stuff between those 30 min. It way better for me to spend couple of hours on fortification and then switching to another stuff where i can use benefits from my rank. Its way better for gameplay, so i suggest make 30min quote per system. So you can spend some time to support your Power and leave to another stuff.

Also i think powers can give more credits per merit, value can be depend on rank maybe? Weekly salary (50kk especially) can be reduced for my opinion.

So making your suggestions about it too. I think Sandro can find some nice ideas here.

My main goal is not to get the rank 5. What i want from Delaine is the weekly check of 5 millions, and a flag i can use (read excuse) to shot down another players. The biggest number of enemies helps a lot. Also neutrals, they really, really should pledge to Archon Delaine or die.
See, for me the power play is very good as it is, please FD don't change it, thank you very much.

Can you clarify what you mean by this?

Sure. Fortification process is delivering special cargo from controlled system to the capital. We have free quota every 30min. Its no depending where you get it or fortification it is or preparation. One quota for everything. I suggest to use 30min quota per controlled system, so you can focusing on fortification by collecting special cargo from different systems same time, not just focusing on one system by waiting free quota every 30min. Its way better for gameplay, its saving your time to use it for a different purposes, not just sitting and waiting for your next quota. There is still place for fast-track if you understand me right.

Oh, I see. I'll have to mull that one over. Might be a nice change.

It could be what inwards fortification needs in order to be in even ground with outwards. Although most likely it would make it a slight bit ahead.

But seeing how balance is out of the window when taking into account combat expansions. Sure, let's go with it!

The biggest Power Play imbalance is between grinding and fun.

SCOREBORED:

Grind: 10,000
Fun: 0

Join to Kumo Crew, we are small, but we are laud! You will find yourself as a part of the great teamwork! Last couple of weeks was so fun! There wasnt so much fun in last year of playing!

But i can agree, less grind - more fun should we have. This is what i am talking about in this thread with my suggestions!

My main "goal" currently with PP is to raise my combat rank. As such, I will go with the power that offers me the most from combat rankings. Combat Expansions are my preferred method, as it gives merits, combat rank, and helps the power I am pledged to.

As a back up, I will undermine, but that is less enjoyable since I have to travel further distances in a ship with limited fuel capacity & jump range.

I am not, in any way, shape, or form, trying to get to Rank 5. I am perfectly happy with Rank 4 and the payout of 5 million credits each cycle.

I only pay attention to what is happening to my pledged power in so much as I do not want to do harm while I am using them for my own personal gain, so I refrain from most of the chasing that is happening each cycle.

I leave Preparation and Fortification to those who are dedicated to actually engaging in the power play itself.

How much profit someone gains based on who they are pledged to doesn't really have that large of an impact in the grand scheme of things. While ALD might have a lot of users pledged to her, I would venture to guess that most of them do not give one whop about her other than how much she can make. Her recent drop out of 1st and down to 4th in the standing is a good barometer of her player base.

A dedicated undermining by other powers sent her tumbling and her pledged rank bonuses went out the window as she moved out of the top 3.

Mahon, who seems to have one of the smaller bases has been in the top spot for 2 cycles now, despite him not having super profitable bonuses. A true sign of the fact that he has a dedicated player base, and not just a group of people trying to earn credits off of him and his pledges hard work.

Delaine has been struggling at the bottom of the rankings, but not for lack of dedication by his pledges. He has been saddled with a pretty nasty bug recently that is preventing expansion into certain systems.

He also seems to be the favorite whipping boy when it comes to other powers. Unless something radical is happening, you will find that Empire and Federation usually seem to go after his systems for undermining, and yet his player base still has the best numbers each cycle with regards to preparation and fortification.

I have yet to see Delaine drop into turmoil, no matter how much his systems are pounded on by others.

If any change were to happen regarding balancing, I would like to see FD nerf ALD's rank bonuses. 100% payout on top of the 20% system payout for bounty claims is a little excessive and is driving players to her power only for the monetary rewards.

She might lose players from her base, but I honestly do not think they would join another faction because in the end, they only really care for the credit gains and not the actual powers themselves, so there would not be a big shift in distribution in players within the other powers.
