To FDev at first, I am personally very very impressed with Powerplay, its mechanics, overall detail and am having a blast. Kudos!

Gamescom is roughly 8 weeks away.

Last year ED unveiled itself in a full playable (beta) state, launch trailer and all. And beta was unveiled to everyone then including the expansion pass.

And knowing FD's insane track record,
(they delivered the Mac port on the last day of March *laughs* still within 3 months of launch, as promised in KS)
patches and promises were delivered accordingly, except the hiccup that was 1.3, but all is forgiven.

Yes, we're still 10 ships away from the promised 30 stretch goal, but we're getting there.

Now in the DDF, IIRC, someone did say that Landings might occur 1 year after the launch of E:D. Which brings me to this speculation:

Will landings be demoed / shown for the first time in Gamescom 2015? If last year is anything to go by, we might get landings to test in August this year, another beta from Aug -> Dec?

Since I speculate landings will give us
1) fully PG realized cities
2) planet trading sites
3) new scanning UI / abilities
4) mining???
5) atmospheric flight / combat and everything that comes with that.
6) space -> atmosphere transition
7) atmospheric specific modules
8) and however powerplay plays into all the above.
9) improved graphics.

If this is true, man I am hyped.

Probably most of it will be about their new game, whatever it is I'm sure I'll have zero interest in it.

As far as Elite is concerned, I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a summary of the state of the game so far, and how Powerplay has added in a new level of depth.

What I'd like to see is a sneak peek promo vid of planetary landings - sort of like what we had for the kickstarter of E: D at the start of this journey. Something that hints at what is being worked on, as a teaser - even if it is still a year plus away it would certainly generate some excitement, even with Powerplay still so fresh. While many are keen for things like walking around stations and ships and such, for me it is the planetary landings that represents an order of magnitude improvement moving forward in terms of potential additional content opportunities. The landings component is such a fundamental next step for things like exploration that exploration for me is starting to feel decidedly lacking because I can't land on that earth-like or water world that I've discovered.....heck, I can't even drop into the atmosphere and fly around the terrain, let alone land on it yet.

I suspect it will just be the XBOX version.

Although I'm hoping POWERPLAY was so underwhelming (IMHO) because the real team is working on the big paid expansions and they're more advanced than we guess.

Ah yes, totally overlooked it. Hypetrain derailed.

XOne version would be totally legit.

Still hoping for some landing action. :/

I would. This would be the un-marketed version of FD releasing their new and improved, Common Sense update. Let us all hope the message at the conference is one of "expansion then consolidation". The latter being the focus and the plan for the back end of the year guys...

THEN release the stuff that "Blows You Away" before Christmas.

Agreed, with Powerplay now live - the mechanics are great - but it needs some "sense".

Xbox version already out next idea would be annoucing the ability to get up and walk around your ships and starports coming holiday 2015

If its expanding already its probably not going to go over well, so I don't think it is that. There is too much the game still requires, being rushed to release for the 30 year mark, to meet baseline expectations from a mass marketing perspective. I am hoping FD have found some new talent to work on areas of the game which have been fielding the brunt of the complaints, but we may end up hearing something like, 'Forums will be pasted to the in game crotch display!' Lord knows, I will see in the future, my hype box is completely empty.

Given what we've seen recently with the Diamondback and powerplay weapons, I fully expect to hear just about nothing before the reveal at the expo. The wave of negativity when reality doesn't match the cloud castles in people's heads would be just plain bad for business.

I would be satisfied if instead FD would simply introduce more assets / content in the existing game. More stations, more outposts, different interiors, more station locations, more things to find in the void, more mission types, etc. The galaxy still feels too lifeless and way too similar no matter how many populated systems you fly to.

But of course I woulds be thrilled with planetary landings, cities, planet exploration, and the possibility to exit the ship and walk around stations, have a chat with fellow cmdrs on station bars, etc. But that is probably too far in the way. I would love that to accept / complete missions, trade or buy modules, make repairs, you would have to leave the ship and walk into offices, shops, bars, etc. Essentially make stations feels like a lively inhabited location, with existing intra-structures, rather than just quick pit-stops. THis would probably displease the "credits per hour" crowd, but maybe FD could slightly increase profits to compensante for the extra time needed to get them.

Oh, and more mid-range ships. After the initial run from siewinder to ASP, there are way too big gaps between ship tiers.

... and FD could add a bunch os simple things toi make the galaxy a little more lively, even small stuff like having a bunch of different human voices responding to docking requests, clearing for launch, entering / exiting no-fire zone, just so that we knew the galaxy is not only inhabbited by robots. Small things can make the galaxy feel livelier.

As I posted elsewhere - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=161431

Please let it be core game improvements. Please let it be deeper, tiered missions. Please let it be more stuff to witness/encounter during general flight. Please let it be more stuff to discover/see while exploring. Please let it be PvP combat related mechanics. Please let it be game mechanics promoting emergent game play.

The ED universe is huge, please let's have some truly interesting/inventive stuff going on in it.

Please no more grind endorsing board games.... :)

In short we need some depth finally added to some of the core mechanics and general game play. We're 6+ months down the line and surely it's overdue now... Especially if there's development time seemingly spare to throw in Powerplay out of nowhere.

What they need to do is:

Improve station interiors and menus,
Make the game feel more alive, have bustling space ports with loaders flying about and moving crates etc. Scrap those cars that have been driving round in circles for the past 18 months and do something good with thr interiors!

Improve ship holo displays, the cockpits are all unique but the holo overlays are all the same so all the ships look the same basically!

Much needed overhaul on the missions system

Passenger mission missions, make the orca actually useful for players

Thargoids

Better outfitting menus with more information

Planetary landing can wait till all this is fixed

Power play was a waste of time they should have improved the main game before bolting on mini games
