I am still getting incredibly slow downloads on every release. The game itself is perfectly fine, but the client upgrades are painfully slow. I know others were having the same issue, did we ever get to the bottom of it?

If it helps, while mine downloaded very quickly, I promptly sent my Cobra (loaded to the gunnels with most of my cash) thundering into the back of a station as I exited SC.

Karma.

Not playing any more tonight, having a strop instead!

Hello everyone,

As the title suggests Gamma 1.02 is on its way soon. The servers will be down for at least an hour from 2.30PM GMT, after that we'll reopen space and let you loose again!

The full change log is below:

- Fix kinematic soft lock loading game
- Fix for softlock on shutdown regarding fog volumes
- Fix possible memory leak in the system map
- Add in some missing metadata from populated authored systems far outside the usual generation range
- Missing backer system ‘Pepper’ added
- Correct the station ID for the station in 17 Draconis
- Deeper telemetry to diagnose what/why we're getting stuck entering the game in certain circumstances
- When the server has too many stellar forge request, bounce it back so the game can try a different server
- Fix for lighting not appearing in the right eye on stereoscopic modes
- Handle the case where directional lights are removed while processing the view culling data
- Improve MTU discovery handshake
- Ensure location s are not sent if they are no longer valid
- Improve upnp clean up code
- Provide feedback telemetry when system data is received from the server which is either internally inconsistent, or inconsistent with the game's own data
- Additional telemetry to help get to the bottom of why some players get stuck entering the game.

(EDIT) Server side change log:

- Saud Kruger’s introductory discount on the newly released Orca has proved incredibly successful. Shipyard dealers report that the heavy discounts have now expired and the ship has returned to its normal pricing across the Galaxy.
- Stop advertising illegal commodities in the galaxy map trade routes and in the commodities market screen.
- Never advertise illegal commodities for export from a station on the system map and only advertise them for import when there is likely to be a black market available to purchase them
- The strange interference affecting Space Station Services and Frameshift Drives in some areas of space has finally subsided. Commanders should experience much less disruption when flying to the following systems:
Fomalhaut, LHS 450, Exioce, 17 Draconis, Aditi, BD+22 4939, Canopus, Exphiay, Fehu, LTT 9846, Pepper, Quince.
- After an upgrade from Universal Cartographics' licensing sub-division, the AI traders' navigation computers now let them satisfy supply and demand for commodity markets from all stations, not just those that control the starsystem.

Cheers!
Would it be out of the question to request a "debugging" key combination much like ctrl-f for framerate display to enable a mode that spams a ton of useful information into the log files, for the dev team to disk, to aid in catching the weird and awkward to solve bugs?
I for one have plenty of hard disk space free for such log files - so long as the support system gets updated to allow zips / larger files when we report problems to help you :)

ohhhh yessss

A record,,, 4 hours continuous play no stutter no crash to desktop, absolutely perfect. love it love it love it.

Still no fix for the sound? Oh please please please FD - fix the sound! It's not just Bitchin' Betty, all the ships engines are gutless as well - and the guns. In fact, it's only the effects that are working properly it seems.

Having a heck of a time downloading the patch (as usual). Sometimes can take over an hour, sometimes I have to restart it. Something about the way your autopatcher operates does not jive well with my system. Could be my provider thinking all peer-to-peer file transfers are Pirate Bay again, not sure. Whatever the cause, my transfer rate is spikey, goes up to 2.5 MB/s, then drops to zero, then stutters along around 0.01-0.10, then spikes. Can we just have an optional direct download link to a patch that we can grab like normal, then apply?

Ok.. about 40 minutes later and my download just frame-shifted to about 300 MB/s and wrapped up. Seriously, is it the quantity of drugs or the quality that made the patcher the program it is today?

Great work guys. I have had a quick half hour in solo mode. I previously had some stuttering, but nowhere near enough to be troublesome. Now, it is much better. Just a hint of a stutter when going in to hyperdrive. But much better coming out of both hyperdrive and supercruise - very clean in both cases.

Now, I must get round to trying it again but, once before, I exited supercruise early, still 1400 km from the orbital and flew in on 'impulse power'. I got within hundreds of metres, but no orbital. Had to flyout and supercruise in to get the orbital back. Is that the expected behaviour? Is supercruising required to load the orbital graphic? And what would happen if I supercruised (not hyperdrive) between two adjacent star systems? Would it transfer me to the new system? Or would it still think I was in the old system? I did start this once but didn't have enough fuel to complete the test.

Annoying, seeing an invalid manifest checksum error! Is this just a late night thing? Annoying, as I've just worked a 17hr day and wanted a quick blast before bed time.. Grrrr

INVALID CHECK-SUM... Guess No Elite for me this holiday weekend... Brilliant.

.Hey, here's an idea... Don't make Upgrades just before a Major Holiday when people finally have the free-time to play the game.

Yep I am having constant server drops between every jump and now I cannot get in the game. Time to give up.

So sorry Devs but the client is not working. Good luck getting it fixed
