Hello everyone,

As the title suggests Gamma 1.02 is on its way soon. The servers will be down for at least an hour from 2.30PM GMT, after that we'll reopen space and let you loose again!

The full change log is below:

- Fix kinematic soft lock loading game
- Fix for softlock on shutdown regarding fog volumes
- Fix possible memory leak in the system map
- Add in some missing metadata from populated authored systems far outside the usual generation range
- Missing backer system ‘Pepper’ added
- Correct the station ID for the station in 17 Draconis
- Deeper telemetry to diagnose what/why we're getting stuck entering the game in certain circumstances
- When the server has too many stellar forge request, bounce it back so the game can try a different server
- Fix for lighting not appearing in the right eye on stereoscopic modes
- Handle the case where directional lights are removed while processing the view culling data
- Improve MTU discovery handshake
- Ensure location s are not sent if they are no longer valid
- Improve upnp clean up code
- Provide feedback telemetry when system data is received from the server which is either internally inconsistent, or inconsistent with the game's own data
- Additional telemetry to help get to the bottom of why some players get stuck entering the game.

(EDIT) Server side change log:

- Saud Kruger’s introductory discount on the newly released Orca has proved incredibly successful. Shipyard dealers report that the heavy discounts have now expired and the ship has returned to its normal pricing across the Galaxy.
- Stop advertising illegal commodities in the galaxy map trade routes and in the commodities market screen.
- Never advertise illegal commodities for export from a station on the system map and only advertise them for import when there is likely to be a black market available to purchase them
- The strange interference affecting Space Station Services and Frameshift Drives in some areas of space has finally subsided. Commanders should experience much less disruption when flying to the following systems:
Fomalhaut, LHS 450, Exioce, 17 Draconis, Aditi, BD+22 4939, Canopus, Exphiay, Fehu, LTT 9846, Pepper, Quince.
- After an upgrade from Universal Cartographics' licensing sub-division, the AI traders' navigation computers now let them satisfy supply and demand for commodity markets from all stations, not just those that control the starsystem.

Cheers!

Just updated to 1.02.

Still crash to desktop when opening Universal Cartographics. :( I raised a ticket about this in 1.0, should I make a new one for each version or just leave it at that one?

You're not the only one experiencing this problem, others have ticketed it including myself. You shouldn't need to create a new ticket but it's a good idea to attach your crash log to it if you haven't already done so. When the Crash Reporter comes up, if you click the "Send" button the program creates an archive called CrashReport.zip in %localappdata%\Frontier_Developments\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-XXXX (where XXXX = a number). Attach it to your ticket and add a note stating as much so that the team are updated to a change in your ticket.

A crash report attached to a ticket is much more informative than one they've received automatically with no accompanying ticket.

Yay! Thanks FD!!

Can't say any of the bugs this update fixes have affected me personally but i'm glad you've fixed them before they do.

On a side note: Are people really complaining about having to download another patch? Really!? Some people need to remember the game is still in development and will be officially until the 23:59GMT 15th December. Let them patch all they want, they could patch every day for all I care as long as when it comes to go time on the 16th we have a stable, balanced game!

If you don't want to put up with the bugs and the constant patches why pay for early access and to take part in the development cycle?

Okay, I used the search and apparently not one person has mentioned the crazy NPC interdiction rate. Was this not addressed for Gamma 1.02? This despite the reams of pages of complaints about this very matter?

Would you rather they didn't bother investigating then?

aye, you just can't please some people it seems, i'd bet if they hadn't added the extra telemetry he'd be complaining about them not doing enough to squash bugs.

Stutter more frequent in solo new update. constant judder and stutter. Again unplayable

solo is smooth as better for me.
maybe you should start looking at the internet connection. high pings to server or packet loss maybe.

AMEN brother.

This update is much smoother overall for me with far less stuttering and smoother transitions in/out of SC and Hyperspace.

Hi , well I almost never post maybe this is my 4'th since I backed. Overall great job Frontier! Beta was great experience however I did not have enough time to enjoy it more.

Feedback on gamma 1.01 - I only had 1 crash and that was coming out of super cruise in front of a station, sent in auto report. I didn't manually submit a ticket.

Just downloading 1.02 at the moment.

A little feedback from me to all the negative posts out there, As a backer it is my job to financially support the development to production of the finished game. Not micro manage the company I am loaning the money to. Question, If you take out a loan for a business venture does the bank micro manage the daily workings or the end product you wish to produce with your loan? of course not , all they want is a good business plan, and schedule for repayment. In a backers context a end product that is playable.
Well so far job well done.

My thought, backers should be a silent partner in the most part until testing.

Testers should be scientific in their approach and non bias. Report bugs, glitches an exploits. Not a venue for concepts or new features at this stage.

It is frontiers vision of what the end game looks and feels like, it's their product not mine. I just lent them the money. I got a great game in return. Pretty fair business deal to me.

So enough of the nay sayer scolding, Great job and looking forward to the official release in December!
