Seriously?? ANOTHER reset?? Are there going to be ANY MORE resets? Cause I am not sure what the point is in playing and advancing just to get hit with ANOTHER reset.... I thought the last one was the full reset.

How about some heads up??!!

Michael Brookes 'announced' it last week - he was being badgered (somewhat ruthlessly imho) for a definitive answer, and the only safe answer was to say that we all should assume there would be another wipe at release. I for one have to agree with his logic on that. :D

If a system is in a state of war and the factions involved can access a capital ship then they can be deployed in the system. Make sure you can afford your insurance before taking one on :)

Michael

Got me wondering now if cap ships have shields (probably yes), and do they have 'weak spots' so you can take out the shield generator (maybe).
And the chances of surviving a direct assault on a captial ship are...

MB: We should give beta testers a head-start during gamma as a bonus.
DB: That's sure to annoy some people.
MB: Who cares? The game will never be a level playing field post-launch anyway. Anyone who complains about that is just being selfish*.
DB: Maybe we should not give the head start to selfish people, just to teach them a lesson. There's no way to do that though.
MB: Yes there is. We make them think there's almost certainly going to be a wipe, then at the last minute we announce that it's not necessary.
DB: Genius! That way, the diligent testers get the bonus, but the whiners don't because they will give up playing during gamma!

(*Yes, I know, not everyone is being selfish, some people are even foregoing their backer advantages, and some genuinely care about "fairness", but the humour plays out better with this assumption)
The characters portrayed in this dialogue are entirely fictional, any resemblance to any real persons is totally deliberate

So you think this is bad!

I recently participated in the Beta and release stages for the European release of a game called Archeage. This is a game that has been live in several countries for some considerable time so you might expect all major issues to be resolved and that you would only see problems resulting from the European localisations that had been carried out. No such luck, it was dreadful, even the server infrastructure was bad. I can only describe the support as abysmal, the game was full of fundamental bugs with very few issues resolved before it went live. I stopped playing Archeage as soon as my original subscription expired and still shudder at memories of the experience. This game is good and far superior even at this early stage, sure it currently has flaws but unlike Archeage it is brand new, not an established product. By comparison, the support for ED is very good especially considering the pressure they are under. Keep playing and reporting those bugs, give as much detail as you can and please cut down on the massive duplication of reports by reading back through the bug discussion forum. That alone will present a clearer view of the problems to the devs which should result in quicker fixes. Great product FD, shows massive promise.

Is gamma basically going to be what we get on release? Wondering because after a couple hundred hours of playing the first couple beta's I had to take a two month break as to not burn myself out on this game, and I wanted to return to it once the "final build" was in place.

Appreciate there is now a "Help" link in the Tutorial section leads to various stick and keyboard layout info-but would like to suggest these are printable-would save a lot of time and trouble.

time: 18:51 24/11/2014 Unable to log into game, game states that it is ''unable to load commander data''... will need to wait a little longer methinks, give the server guys a chance to upright the core, or something... Maybe there is a core for the pippins.... Is 'Commander Data' a tribute to Star Trek TNG???

Hi Commanders, It's great to be back, After beta 3.5 could only play for a few min's then game would crash, ticketed etc. So great news as after server problems with Gamma 1.01, I can now play again and it looks better than ever, hope to see you in the void commanders... Have ordered new graphics card + additional memory as thought it was a hardware problem that was causing game to crashing, but they will not go to waste... Thanks to the ED programmers for quick response to problems and a great game in the making.......Cheers.....

And will we large scale engagements or is it just like in the presentation we saw the other day? I hope there is more to come. And considering the question of what exactly a war is, it is just a boolean variable of the system correct? Are wars are dynamic or seeded by hand?

Basically, yes. Don't bother grinding again though, as they're going to nuke us again on the 16th. Maybe just wait until then.
