I have tried solo, group and open, with and without the "1" & "0", still have spinning ship. This is the first time I have experienced this since I started to play.

Hi,

I've actually found a way to get past the spinning (for online play, didn't try solo)! It's also about the upnp, but in a different config.
In the file "%LocalAppData%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\AppNetCfg.xml" change upnp="false" to upnp="true".

This worked, while the dev-proposed upnpenabled="0" change didn't help.

Please try it out everyone!

Tried this for Solo, set to false, doesn't work sadly. Worth a try ;) Thank you.

What do you mean "switch back to 1"?

from Colins post earlier
Hi all,

Could those of you who are having a problem loading into game where you are getting stuck with a spinning ship change your AppConfig.xml from

upnpenabled="1"

to

upnpenabled="0"

and try again, and let me know if that works for you.

Your AppConfig.xml file can be found in the same place the Elitedangerous32.exe resides.

Thanks,
Col

After trying to log into OPEN PLAY, i noticed that the loading screen (spinning ship) is doing something again, because of the slight stutter i get when it's working. Anyway, i can log into SOLO again too.

EDIT: i did not try to change anything.

I got in by logging in to Open Play which worked normally then quitting to menu and Logging back in to my Private Group, no probs now.

Yep, this worked for me as well. Start in open, save and exit to menu, the go into solo. Didn't need to touch the configuration file.

Edit: not sure if this is helpful to the devs but while doing the above and as the game was saving the graphics changed to very briefly show what looked like my ship out in space and with the hyper jump animation. This was very fast - maybe 2-3 frames flashed before the save menu appeared. But I was docked. With a normal save the ship graphics are correct as in showing my docked location. Also note the downloaded updated versioninfo.txt file is incorrect showing 53986 and not 53988 file version.

Things I'm learning during the ship spinning sequence.

- The ship revolves once every 15 seconds.
- The Cobra has 16 dorsal cooling vents
- From a purely 80's sports car perspective, nothing beats the Cobra IMO.
- I prefer green CRTs to amber ones.
- That Cobra has a much better yaw rate than mine, where can I buy?

Save & Exit doesn't work but "Save and exit to Main Menu" does the trick, after selecting open game. Then i'm able to start solo mode.

Well, it's great that they fix things even on a Sunday but it's sad that the basics of even getting past the spinning ship seems to have been broken for so many with the update.
Especially considering it's getting so close to release.
Could very well be overload after the down time on a Sunday afternoon but it still feels a bit like some of the irritation about no offline mode being shown true ?

I had that outfitting "bug" but I could still play without problems and use the mouse to buy modules.

Now after the update I can't get past the spinning ship, so I guess the outfitting works like it should but that doesn't mean a whole lot when you don't get to play at all.
