Receiving constant "Could not connect to matchmaking server" errors...
Game usually lasts 2-3min, then drops with said message.

Like lots of others been having lots of matchmaker server errors and getting kicked out. However, glad to say always lets me back in with no other loss than a few minutes play time. Apart from server errors everything seems good. So well done to FD. Hope you get this sorted out ready for launch. Doing a great job really!

Been playing for about 3 hours tonight and have seen the following:

Starting with the spinning ship, which I was only able to resolve by creating a private group of one and joining that, which seemed to have perfect playability.

After about an hour, I got the "Cannot connect to a Matchmaker server...." error and was kicked back to the start screen.

I was then (and ever since) able to start a Solo game, but have had the following issues:

1. I have been booted (matchmaker) 3 times in the past couple of hours.
2. Delayed startup screen (spinning ship, which does eventually resolve).
3. Several VERY long hyperspace jumps (around 1 full minute)

Most of the problems people are having are networking related.

P2P is very flakey. The people who can't play at all (and never have been) should be looking at their router and firewall settings (you might need to open or forward ports etc, or enable upnp). Also if their ISP is throttling or blocking P2P, some do.
Yeah, it's routers and firewalls as it was working fine until second 2.05 patch. Yup. that's it, fer sure.

When it works, it's great.

But then those dreaded words....

"Cannot connect to Matchmaking server"

As to other points on here - pretty sure all server connections are TCP and only player to player is UDP. I might be wrong but might be worth a dev confirming?

Having same problem here as many others. Getting dis-connected from server every 15-20 mins.

Then have to completely re-log in. Then in 15-20 min's same thing. Disconnected again.

when i dont get stuck on stuck on spinng cobra loading screen i get stuck in the jump to the next system, its random though sometimes i jump no problems then others it loops a loops for a long time, sometimes 10 mins later it dumps me into the system or disconects, currently seeing how long i will keep me in before it dumps me or dc`s 15 mins so far and counting lol
this patch has broken so much for me and less than 2 days till launch... im worried.

2.05 is awesomesauce, but I did get one match making disconnect [eidt here for clarity] today in about 2 hours of play time.

Servers must be rock-solid if this is an 'always on' game. Seriously need a timeout counter to allow me to play in "instant solo" mode for a few minutes if the server connection has issues.

I am really liking the new Supercruise transition as it is much more fluid. The one thing to make it even better would be to start the zoom on exit much farther out. Seriously, I want to feel like the station is a tiny point in the distance and it grows until it looms in front of me, but not in like 1.5 seconds, needs to be about 3 seconds long.

Also, the hyperspace effect really needs to be updated to mirror supercruise now. I want to see my destination star at all times in hyperspace and the final transition after matchmaking needs to zoom in from further out.

The way it is now everyone thinks it is a loading screen, which I do not agree, it is a server instance matchmaking and distance to target animation.

Try to make it more like just travel from one star to another and when the matchmaking for instance is done, start the zoom animation even further out.

This is the single biggest immersion thing for me at the moment. Each update gets it better but I think there is still a huge amount of room for improvement.

Hmm.

Unfortunate but this close to release they should be fixing bugs only and not changing functionality that could introduce more bugs.

The only issue with that is that there's a large number of bugs IN functionality and of course they want to get those sorted for release.

Treading fine line here. No point in complaining about it, they're doing their utmost and I'm pretty confident they know a lot more about all this than 99% of people on this forum.

Let me know how that works out.

Thanks,
Col

Wow, you guys must be sweating bullets right now... And everybody wired on too much coffee in the office... don't eat acidic food on top of it...

I hope server capacity isn't going to make your job impossible tomorrow...

For now, your update works in all respects - at least on this computer of mine, hope it works for everyone else equally as well...

Ok, I'm giving up for tonight.

Yesterday I tried and it was down patching. This afternoon I tried and after 2 minutes was told it was going to for a patch. Tonight it wont stay connected.

So on I've had two friends considering buying on release day and ask me over the last week if it was worth buying , and I say "unreservedly yes" to both. Now I've just contacted them and retracted this, citing my belief that they will not be able to play at launch. Best guess is it will settle within a week. Probably a lot of "launch day servers down as usual" in the gaming press too.

I think the desire to have a perfect launch has led to panic patching and this is the result.

Not likely in my case, as I play Solo, so no P2P its flaky Servers causing my disconnects..

Not sure if it's the server either. I was playing with r53988/r0 (i think first 2.05 patch) without any disconnection whatsoever until 3 minutes ago. Going to try upgrading now.

EDIT: not going to upgrade. i was able to log in from main menu again :p i'll be waiting till the next stable patch or i get disconnected for good. i was online for 3 hours straight before. let's see how long it will be this time after relog.

UI switching toggle broken

- Scrolling with the Game Pad in a module slot in Outfitting causes the highlight to disappear

Glad this was fixed as it also affected my X55 HOTAS, but it seems it may have now broken the UI Screen in toggle mode (set as Joy5 on my X55) as it no longer cycles to the right-hand screen, just the left navi, top comms, centre normal but it no longer switches to the right-hand status/power/groups etc This is quite annoying now, especially in flight.

I've ticketed it - but this brings up a question: why wasn't the launcher updated with the new support site? It wasn't very clear in the old site, but eventually I realised where it had gone. I would have thought it was better to link directly to the new site now, and have lnks to the old one there, not the other way around.
