Ganking People in Sol

I've played in Mobius PvE for years. Since before the sundering of the original Mobius PG. But, I still think, that if you log into Open, you have consented to be general content. If you are in Open, it is your choice, and you have do accept the consequences, in the end, they are minor.
I accept that too. I use all the modes at various times and I'm well aware that not everyone in Open will play as I do.

However, I would add that anyone playing in any mode other than Solo is also consenting to be blocked by any other player who doesn't like how they behave; that's also a provided feature in the game we all bought. My advice is always to play in such a way that we all have a good game experience, then instancing won't need to be modified by block. I always try to follow my own advice.

And frankly I'd get rid of block in Open, mainly as it kills any semblance of integrity to it. Being able to vanish on command makes a mockery of combat and consequences, and negates the need to adapt or learn.

ED is pretty much the only game I play where you can select how far you are willing to lose, but still keep all the benefits of winning. Ordinarily this would not be a problem if gains were not also part of a meta strategy layer.

For example I've been accused (read: message spammed) as a filthy ganker when wiping out rival pledges transporting cargo for Powerplay. If they block me, they gain for nothing and ruin that chain of consequences. If PP NPCs actually did their job I'd be fine, but as they are they are weak as paper and aggressive as a dead slug.

Logged into Open by mistake this morning, got interdicted in Sol.
However my evac ships were built to outrun Glaives so left the would be ganker dropping off the bottom of the scanner...

It does not make you vanish at combat, and you know that. What happens afterwards is another thing. You may engage once. But well thats it. Of course if someone nastily shares his blocklist you might be blocked before engaging....

Same, although it's so rare I see other players it does feel rather sad. If Sol was a CG there might be some people around, but alas it doesn't seem to have any attention at this time.

I would like to see other commanders involved in the relief effort, but I'm not going to get into tussles with gankers in ships that aren't designed for it 🤷‍♂️

...and the 100% sure solution to all these problems is right here, on your opening screen. Click smart.

Yes it does, you pretty much destroyed your own argument with shared blocklists.

Having player control of block means it can and is weaponised. If block was game controlled, where after destruction you were separated for a period of time from your attacker it would be better.

Why should I need to meet some cmdr I find obnoxious ever again? To give him chance of ruining my gameplay again? And anyways you need to apply blocklist before meeting commander, doing it while combat does not change anything. Its not combat logging.

I did try Mobius on the first evac run but someone was sitting on the pad at the Cornwallis so Solo it is.

Because the game is shared and that your gameplay is always linked to theirs. You already have modes, further salami slicing open just degrades open and its integrity as being you v randoms and the consequences.

If the game controlled separation, then its fair- if you are repeatedly destroyed by a player you are separated but not in a way thats detrimental to the mode itself. You could go one further, and that each time separation is longer- say 15 minutes, 30 minutes etc.

Well I prefer never seeing or say a very long time not seeing obnoxious muppet again. And it is nice to have freedom to do so. Its after all my time and my fun.

Look, this isn't a game mechanics issue, it's a RL issue.

In some multi-player games you have to play with anyone else online, no matter what they do.

In this one, you don't have to play with others whose gameplay you don't enjoy.

The solution is obvious:-
Strive to be the kind of player others will enjoy playing with.

Yes, somehow people whose playstyle does irritate others choose not to understand this simple truth.

Well lets think it: Player x flies in open with AX build to partake in AX activities, preferably so that he does not need to solo some tharg monster. Does that mean player x wants to take 1vs1 against murderhobo FDL flown by player y? Does it? Or does it mean player x wants to play ax activity with players s,t,u,v, w?

You know we don't have OpenPVE mode.

Elite may be the 'cutthroat galaxy' as it was marketed back in 2014 but it isn't an anarchy. The lack of draconic in-game consequences leads some players to attack unarmed cargo ships, rescue ships etc.(be it a part of the regular play or ganking, (however you may define that)).

I'd expect that when you commit (mass) murder of civilians and therefore violating human rights (hey, I am talking of in-game lore, I am aware that we're talking about a game), the system authorities and maybe other law enforcement authorities (super powers) should immediately turn against you and chase you with a significant amount of ships and highly skilled NPCs so that you can achieve a kill or two but can't sit near a mail slot and make other players' game experience a miserable one.
