Hmm. It's like that since this patch? I haven't done missions since the patch, but during the beta I still had to honk to get the mission related USS.

Maybe you should reign in the helpful advice until you've played it for a bit.

After the last big Update me and a friend decided to give Elite another try. The last time we played in the end of 2017. So we missed the last 4 big updates!
We thought that now there would be much more interesting things to do and plenty of new stuff to discover, but we ended in the same situation we stopped playing a year ago.
I am flying a Vulture and he is flying an ASP Exp and we wanted to do some combat missions after we found out that in the normal sites like Res, Beacons and Belts nothing has changed at all (kinda boring). So we formed a wing and accepted a pirate mission where we had to kill 8 pirates in a nearby sector.
So we went there and because there was no Res site we decided to wait at the nav beacon (the mission description told us to wait at a beacon or res site). And after a while a pirate was coming in. I killed him with the support of the federate police without a risk. Then I waited for the other 7 pirates to fly in but even after 2 hours I just found a second one at the beacon. So I wanted to go into suprecruise but even there after 20 minutes I wasnt able to find another pirate and you guess what... we both ended up in Windows again.
Sorry Elite Fans... but for working people its NO FUN to FLY EIGHT HOURS to complete a simple pirate mission where 95% of the time you do nothing and just wait until a pirate flys in. And its also very boring to fight just one pirate at a time. It feels to artificial.... where are the pirate fleets or their mother ship?
I dont understand why this game is wasting so much potential. The engine is great, but there is still nothing to do except flying around and watching some stuff.
Also I still miss the progress... when yesterday I was killing 2 Anacondas with the help of the police what will come in a few weeks... more Anacondas? Maybe one day a Thargoid? Where are the huge battleships or big enemies? I dont see the reason to get the best ships when I can kill the biggest ships even now with ease.
And please dont tell me to explore the universe because I was really disappointed by this as well... got a passenger mission where I had to bring a passenger to an Ice gysire and man I was disappointed when there was just a nav beacon named Ice Gysire instead of a real Ice Gysire.... Sorry, but I will wait another year in the hope that FrontierDevelopement finally understands what makes fun and maybe adds some real progress which motivates players a bit more. I hope one day we will have systems which are really dangerous with big profits you can earn. There should be way more dangerous ships flying around and not the same stuff you see in the first hour of your playtime in the little Sidewinder.
Kinda sad for one year developement![]()
You'll get a lot of salt from the usual culprits but you're right. Most of us have lives and can't sit for 6 hours at a time collecting materials or whatever. It's a very boring game with nothing much to do. Everyone knows it, really. Some have managed to convince themselves that it's somehow related to game difficulty, which is obviously silly. The game is very easy but also incredibly boring. I still play it (although increasingly less now) but never been able to convince anyone else to stick with it. It looks kind of nice, I guess.

Oki. I just logged in and gave it a try. I picked up an assassination mission. I jumped to the destination. It indeed gave me the "misison target detected" message upon arrival. But it did not point me towards the USS with the mission target. Instead it marked the nav beacon for me.
So based on the way you wrote, i could now just give you back your own advise to first get a clue and then to post. Instead, i refuse to lower myself to that level and offer a theory on why you experienced it differently in your case: the scanner now immediately upon arrival resolves many things. That includes the main star, other bodies within close enough range to the ship and other things, e.g. nav beacon and USSes. So i would guess that in your specific case, the mission target apparently was close enough to you to be automatically resolved.
In fairness;
The Res sites have been ruined by pittance rewards

The missions server was added, but the mission system is still farcical
Being spammed by 'Mission Critical' messages is just dumb. If I delete it I don't want it. I am never going to do a missions that pays me less than millions of credits
The 'I Win' button was supplied for the explorers
Adding AI that rams themselves to death is Great, Saves on Ammo. Adding running away AI is also great, shoot them in the butt, free credits all round.
Adding repeating delivery missions that are 1 jump away and 1 ship cargo, with rewards for 5m-10m is excellent. Huge thanks for that!
The new graphics are nice. The amount of button presses now is excellent. I'm sure if they a little harder they can add even more.
In fairness it was all free.. Which is all it deserves.
Oh yeh, Still no countdown on Notoriety. Still have to logout and log back in to check if it has expired. Great Design !!
Trading has pittance rewards. Still lots of traders.
For all the claim of "Massive payments!" exploring has pittance rewards. R2R is no different from using heal beams.
For all the fact of 100m/hr for passenger missions, almost all passenger missions have terrible payout. Robigo and then only via heavy board flipping is required to make ACTUAL bank out of passenger missions.
Yet still we have lots of explorers and lots of passenger haulers.
Moreover, so what? Credits are orders of magnitude easier nowadays. If credits is so necessary, grind robigo for 20 hours and gain 2 billion credits. Then it doesn't matter, you have enough to buy it, whatever it is.
I have more credits than I know what to do with.. However I like to feel like there is a reward in the HazRez. Ships worth 46k just don't cut it.
I was being quite facetious. The fact is, the game was ruined when they discovered they hadn't a clue how to implement balance which should have been anteriour to gameplay.
A game without balance is a mess. ED is solid proof of that.

Frontier have had more than enough time to develop a meaningful and coherent mission system. They just twiddle their thumbs and tweak surface features like NPC faces and menu layouts. Let's face it, this is all it will ever be. Frontier can't deliver.
It's like a pseudo-game, ya know what I mean?
It looks like a game but, it ain't.

Fanboi's are great until they kill the game they passionately defend. And then they wonder where it all went wrong. No point pandering to ignorance. I'm out.
