General wants in Odyssey, basic FPS STUFF without the FLUFF.

One thing I would really like to see is two controller support, as in being able to use both my control pad (xbone) and my Thrustmaster at the same time for separate things.

Currently the way it works on Xbone is the controller you sign into the game with is the only one that the game responds to.
If I sign in with my HOTAS the Xbone pad doesn't work and vice versa (except in game text boxes e.g. System search, naming stuff in the Livery).

I absolutely love playing this game with my HOTAS setup and have absolutely no intention of using my Xbone pad to fly ever again.
However, the idea of running around in First Person doing whatever activities we get with a joystick and throttle control seems like a really stupid and unintuitive way to play it.
While, from a console player perspective, a control pad makes perfect sense for FPS.
And the absolute last thing I want to do is land on a planet with my HOTAS, quit the game back to the dashboard, restart the game with my Xbone pad, run around on foot for a bit then sign out and re-log with the HOTAS when I want to fly again.

What I'd really like is to be able to have my HOTAS set up for my Ships/SRV and have my Xbone pad set up for running about in FPS.
It might even make it feel more like I'm "getting into" my ship when I put down the pad and grab the flight controller again.

They're both always sat right in front of me anyway as I can use the Xbone pad to type/navigate text boxes (for some reason) much easier than with the HOTAS.

Anyway, that's some of my thoughts on the matter.

There are a number of fundamental things I wish for in Odyssey, obviously without asking for to much crazy stuff. Quite honestly, I do not know how FD will be able to seamlessly (or maybe not) incorporate this into ED. that being said. I would be quite happy with the following from a FPS view point:

1. Two weapons only (Main & Side arm), ammo limited to what you carry or find, please no "non-sense" in carrying 10 different rifles etc..
2. Med-kit / Revive possibility
3. REMLOCK suit oxygen limit (limit to x hours, otherwise find an Oxy refill station, go back to your ship, or die).
4. Gestures (Hostile/Friendly)
5. Direct Voice Comms in 200m radius, or whatever range. chance to negotiate with opponents if they are Player Characters
6. Ability to Pick-up / Drop Weapons & Equipment
7. No 3rd Person view, immersion breaking.
8. No loot boxes (Arx)
9. Use old-age design for Keyboard/Mouse FPS, Translate to console generation, not the other way around
10. You have my best wishes & good luck.

Good suggestions. Frontier should study the top-tier FPS / survival games.

Hmm... FPS wishes...

Most typical ones have been mentioned, so I'll just add the specials :

  • Sound FX. Weapons need Sound FX to represent their power. Audio team in ELITE is superb - except when it came to Weapon Sound FX IMHO.
  • Skill. So we have varying Gravity? Great. Implement ballistics, requiring some skill to make projectiles hit where they're supposed to.
  • Environment. Day, Night, Temperature, Sun position, Metal Deposits in Rocks, Shadows... Make all that affect Sensors/Visibility/Detectability in a reasonable way

My "don't want" list :
Pretty much what every modern Console shooter does in one way or another :
  • no "press {Controller Input} to be a hero" mechanics
  • no low-skill / visually overly bombastic FX shows on the screen (see above, no "interactive movie" that's just a visual show around the Player)
  • no waterfall hit numbers on and health bars for opponents
  • please no 15ft 1.8ton oversized Blades, Swords or other "Manga Equipment" our human-sized Characters are magically able to carry
  • enemy NPC/AI. Don't make 'em as lame and predictable/dumb as many other titles have done in the past. Dumb Bullet Sponges aren't sexy.

Guardian sites at sunrise would be an epic place for this sort of thing.
