Give us freedom, the same as EvE. Consigne the universe to the players, FD

Temporary closure for cool off/clean up.

EDIT: Re-opening, I remind everyone of the OP; please keep on that topic:

Let us make our own game.

Corporations, are needed.

Player controlled stations, are needed

etc.

Can't believe this thread got so much attention...Braben said it already...'their game the way they want it!' Not any other way...END.

This thread got attention, should say you something.

the community has strong opinions on this because is an hot topic.

And what if braben changes his mind? Hindisght and moreso investor and mid release pitches and analysis will give the answer...not some 10 commandements law style

ahah, you are so deluded.

Yes I did, you called other MMOs '' and said that ED doesn't have some of those '' features, could you please expand on any other points I missed because re reading your post again I think I got them both.

Dodge as you may. That's not all what you said, and you missed my point completely - twisting the words to your own liking.
You said:

It also lacks a lot of the aspects of standard MMOs.

And I directly answered you by saying that for every '' aspect it lacks, it also lacks about 50 great aspects, what part of this are you struggling with exactly?

Wow. Extremely disappointed in Braben. When I visited Phekda or Tiliala in FFE, I got my butt shot off by the NPC mafia in those system. Why would it be such a problem in a 400 billion galaxy if some stars would be held and guarded by a player mafia in the same vein? 400 billion stars, man! In FFE, you were not able to visit every system and "do your own thing", because the pirates had real teeth. In ED, anarchy and core sectors have all the same carebear difficulty level, the NPCs pose no threats whatsoever and you can seamlessly switch to solo mode in case you might encounter another human...

THAT's the sequel to Elite, Frontier and First Encounters? What happened to DB?!

Because he had to say that for the carebears

the game will soon need new players, and management will press their balls to implement features from other games.

we know what is going to happen

Way to completely discredit anything you might have had to say. Super unclassy, rookie. There's a donkey on your head masquerading as head apparel.

Corporations, are needed.

Player controlled statuons, are needed

etc.

*sigh* Eve V2 again? Get over it. Not happening.

If you really want that, follow your own suggestion and "make your own game" rather than breaking this one.

How are shareholders going to change the direction of the game when DBOBE himself owns 56% of the shares in FDEV?

That's either disingenuous or genuinely ignorant. Either way it's got nothing to do with my point or the post I was replying to.

In WOW you farm gold by killing enemies and doing generic missions. You gain in rank and get better gear. All the NPCs are easy and cower in fear when "the player" encounters them. You have no influence on the game world whatsoever.

In Elite you farm gold by trading and doing generic missions. You gain in rank and get better ships. All the NPCs are easy and cower in fear when "the player" encounters them (in Frontier and FFE, the pirates had real teeth though). You have no influence on the game world whatsoever.

WOW (and other themepark MMOs) copied the original ELITE gameplay and ED uses the very same formula without any enhancements and copied the "chosen one" mechanic from WOW.

Gameplay wise, WOW and ED have far more commonalities than Eve and ED.

It's very entertaining. It's nearly as entertaining as seeing them swan around in their diagonal haircuts, ridiculous tattoos and enlarged earlobes, trying to play "look at me!" harder than their fellows, squinting at their iShinys all the time, and proudly holding BA's in Social Awareness Studies. And then they complain that the 84's won't employ them :D

Seriously you have got to stop posting such common sense, this is really not the place (you missed "pull your trousers up I don't want to see your underwear") lol

In a desperate attempt to drag us back towards topic, does anyone think that the improvements to co-op play slated for 1.2 (that we suspect, at least) might help with the OP's problems?

It might not be what he has in mind, but won't a wing/squadron dynamic be almost as good?

I think they will, yes.
In general I suspect (total guesswork here) that folk just want a drizzle of social tools to enable them to communicate better, nothing crazy. Anything above that could be a major change to what ED is supposed to be and personally I don't think that needs breaking, it all just needs a good shake up.

Even I want Wings. And Wings has nothing to do with an explorer who moves at the Speed of Dad. But something that bills itself as an MMO must have something better than a chat window that 'Cannot send transmission'...

Same here, pretty much.

DISCLAIMER ***I am not insulting anyone here***

Things have moved on in gaming to such a degree that certain things are just taken for granted, and these things are standardised and just work.

Swimming against the tide is all well and good but the fact of the matter is that the torrent coming towards us in this flimsy metaphor is full of well used ideas that the gaming world has invented, tweaked and perfected over the last decade or so and to let them float by us and crash over the Waterfall Of Broken Dreams is silly, don't be scared of them, embrace them. The rest of the world has done for years and years and years

If they integrate VALKYRIE elite will die

How is it that you have come to that mighty conclusion?

EVE in its hayday had...what? 10000 users? So lose 10000 players to EVE...some may stay because they believe in ED's vision...the rest - well reducing the PVP related complaints from this forum is no bad thing.
