Give Yamiks an Alpha key!

that exaggerated bullarxe isn't the real reason. the real reason can't be just accusations blown out of proportion. that is full steam damage control, trying to negate the contender. ;)

now ... yamiks should get his response together to this. this impasse is killing me ...
I'm afraid I don't buy that. I would have to think that their company was run by a 13yo to believe that.
I will say however, that it doesn't seem to me that Yamiks intends to upset anyone with his lude or politically incorrect commentary
To call it politically incorrect is a statement that some will find it offensive, that he uses derogatory terms or slurs, even for comedic effect, is, rightly imo, going to offend some people. We know the terms and phrases he uses do upset people, so whilst it might not be his main aim to upset those people, he also doesn't mind doing upsetting them. FD appear to not want to support that.

So you do believe in the yamiks conspiracy, it's not just your usual everyday trolling routine? That's even worse. :)
if you yank out of an uncomfortable question you might get a round of applauses but that still doesn't make an argument. you really think those claims in the 2nd email are proportionate? i'm not a yamiks-specialist by any stretch but watched a fair bit of his videos, and i simply can't agree.

other than that my trolling has never been routine, you are really close to overstepping with that one!

Well, except for the dev team who he constantly berates and insults. He, or anyone else, shouldn't really be surprised by FDev's decision.

And of course they mean "content creators we like", that's how it works! Publishers chose which influencers they want to support and drop them pretty quickly if they go toxic or "off-brand". It's not just about how many followers they have.

I don't recall him giving any personal insults to the devs, but I've not watched all his videos so could easily be wrong. I do see him frequently insult and criticise their work, and their development and thought process as he imagines it though.

"Core Content Creators" is not the same as "Core Content Creators we like", and it was the first term they used in their dishonest first response to him. Without the "we like" qualifier, he certainly makes the cut.

Many people struggle to differentiate between product, company and employee. They dont grasp there is a difference between saying "I dont like multicrew" or "I think FD makes crappy games" and "the devs are lazy and stupid".

I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are truly baffled as to why human beings don't like to be directly insulted. It must make their lives... interesting.

I think FD simply doesn't want to give freebies to yamiks so they flipped him the bird when he asked for those freebies. As a company they can't really say "fart off" in plain words so they gave them the standard corporate spiel for "fart off".

I usually enjoy your professional grade trolling, that's why I honestly think that believing some "hide the flaws" conspiracy, when absolutely everything in the EDO alpha will become extremely public in six days, is beneath you.

FDev can define "core content creator" any way they wish. It's their product, their brand. You might not agree with that, but as I said, it's not just about how many followers or how much content a person produces. It's about being on-brand. Why would they support someone who completely bashes their product and does so in a puerile way and unconstructive fashion?

FDev are also rather prudish and like to position themselves as a family-friendly company. There's no swearing in-game and they utilize heavy-handed filters to block words and phrases they consider offensive. So, Yamiks is very off-brand in that respect.

i can agree with that, i'm not sure it is really the case with the yamiks from what i've seen. again vulgarity and bluntness are not necessarily insults.

then again some people gets more easily offended than other people, and it also makes for a perfect excuse. apparently.

might aswell directly say: "we don't like you". no need to paint the guy as practically a criminal, it's just ridiculous.

I assumed the first response was FD being very British. The second they ran through Google translate for the rest of the world :)
"We are dreadfully sorry about you not being invited to the birthday party, but we only have so many chairs."

You'd expect someone to take the hint and not respond with "but can't you add more chairs, and if not, why didn't you give me one of the chairs you do have?!"

Let's face it, there is only one way this conversation is gonna go and it won't be flattering.

Oh come on. Are we really going to pretend "you are stupid" and the countless variations thereof are anything other than an insult? :/

I agree, they're free to define it as they wish. However, it's an evasive, and in my view dishonest response to give without that qualification.
Moreover, I still see not only their response, but their decision as a bad move from a business perspective, because as previously stated, enough of their customers value his content, and clearly don't take much issue with his language. But that's just my opinion.

ok! then we agree! the messages are just bull.

thanks for your compliments!
oh i do not believe the "hide the flaws" thing! i didn't even watch that part of the video in detail, but i get what you mean from the context now. that's just yamiks trolling there, and i think he lost it a bit there. still, no reason for such name-calling and finger-pointing on the forum or in that message from some cm dude.

I don't think this episode will harm either Yamiks or FDev.

Even if he'd been given a key, chances are Yamiks would be highly critical of Odyssey, as that's literally his schtick. And I think it's safe to assume that many of his followers share his views on ED, or why else would they follow him? So many of them will be lapsed players or those who have completely given up on ED.

So, unless Yamiks was to utterly fall in love with Odyssey and convince his followers that it's a complete game-changer, which seems highly unlikely to me, I can't see how giving him a key would be of benefit to FDev?

well, is it? i'm not sure at all.

frontier and their devs are sort of public figures in the context of the elite fan base or fan-sphere or whatever. the same they accept praise they are subjected to caricature, and one would expect some degree of ability to detach the public image from the real person. i mean, "who designed this should be thrown out an airlock" is not really a death threat.

of course this is a sensitive and dangerous zone to play in, and if it has become yamiks main trope it is the more probable that he has stepped over the line on some occasion. i'm still not ready to light the stake just because frontier marketing or a few opinated users say so. burning stakes require hard cold evidence i have not yet seen.

I was thinking about the people I've heard screeching about not being invited to weddings over the years actually. So many variants on 'limited seating' and 'immediate family only' followed by months of whining, I always think look, why are you so desperate for someone to say 'OK we just don't want you to come. Happy now?'

What is it achieving? It's not going to change anything and frankly if they cared enough about your opinion the issue wouldn't exist to start with.

No, but it's very insulting to the person(s) who did design it. If you were working at FDev, would you want to support a YouTuber who constantly attacks you? He can't have his cake and eat it.

You're talking like he's been deleted from the internet. What has actually happened is that a company have refused to give him some free stuff of theirs, without in any way preventing him from accessing it
