And that is precisely why his response is worded the way it is (with all-caps, bold etc. - all of which I'd find incredibly rude if someone at work emailed me in the same tone) - he's hamming it up for his audience and he's free to do so I just find it very short sighted and dare I say it, unprofessional. Which is why I think he won't go beyond the 'fame' or 'success' he's sitting at now. 100k subs isn't really that much in the greater scheme of things.Ouch

I haven't heard anything about that to date. Only that on the 29th we all get access.

Whilst it does seem weird that they have all that murder and substances in their game, their stance, I believe, is that it is fictional. They do not want to have any connection to the real life issues. Read the forum rules, this is not a new invented stance. They have been fairly consistent about it for some time.
I think that is right, however, I think FD's take is that he will happily cause offence to people (they mention sexuality) in order to get those clicks, simply put, FD aint down with that.
I truly believe that Yamiks has the capability to make very critical videos that FD wouldn't object too, it is the way he goes about it. People seem very eager to believe that they don't like his criticism. I think it is the way he presents it. His problem is that some people do like it, do find it funny and now expect it. He does have good insight on the game, some good ideas and truly loves it but he has painted himself into a corner with his presentation style.
If so I stand corrected- there is a strand about Steam discouraging pre-release keys over a certain threshold and this is what FD might have alluded to with Yamiks.
If a game can pass the Yamik’s test that’s truly high praise indeed,just because no game has managed to do this so far is no reason to deny him stuff.
I thought this was because Steam eschews free keys in general because it eats their profit. Better to have game devs sell their product as EA/Alpha key than have them give a lot of free testing keys.
The question FD should have asked themselves is this: "do we want him inside the tent, p!ssing out, or outside the tent, p!ssing in?"
Not understanding something is not a beginning of a strong argument.
Why do Fdev give any keys to creators in the first place? Because reviews are free advertising. However, any company that tries to manipulate the outcome of the reviews, except for the ones trying to make a good product, puts themselves in a very bad position. At least to some of us, and therefore it's a stupid PR move, that Fdev haven't thought through. This is basically a tempest in a teapot, but it has potential to blow up to galactic proportions, which I highly doubt would be beneficial for a game developer right before the launch of a major update, that is supposed to attract new players to the game.

I think they got the wrong word with upset. He's not trying to upset anyone, not even FD with his videos.
But apart from that, i think the position in their email is quite understandable.
Yamiks ranting about it certainly won't do anything to change their opinion, only solidify it.

Initially i thought the whole hoo-ha was about a pre-release key, but it turned out he just wanted a free copy.
I think this is sort of a disingenuous argument considering that the alpha keys can be bought with money and the practice of cooperating with just the guys you like or who are big enough is pretty standard in the business.
As has been noted several times in the thread, Yamiks is simply a freelancer with a shtick and ultimately FDev simply didn't care that much. I have a hunch that this entire debacle will have little effect to Odyssey sales figures.
Why FD chooses to blatantly lie to theYamics in public is truly baffling. Moronic behaviour.
