Slowing things down a bit - going eco mode to grab a few ELWs before jonking and using Neutrons again

I am guessing thats about the 10 oclock position. I have sorted the remaining stars into clock sectors - 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock etc. There are about 200 stars in each sector

Here are the stars for the 10 o'clock sector, one of the bigger ones. I haven't sorted them into a route of any kind so these positions will be random within that sector.
The second column is the HIP number, the third column the name in ED. Notice that the positions are accurate to 3 or 4 dp.

I am coming back from the edge along the 7 o'clock sector. My first star was HD 236836 which was interesting because it was already discovered in ED by Cmdr Orange! And then the only way I could get EDSM to acknowledge my traffic was to log out and log back in. Even though I had arrived by jumping in with my anaconda, not the FC.

Yes, the earlier checks were made against systems allocated to slices in the original spreadsheet, about 25000 systems.
The rest of the catalogue, maybe 80k+ systems, were assumed to be in edsm, indeed most have "in edsm" as a note.

Anyway, there are plenty more to do ....

This diagram shows the bubble region and is about 3000ly across.

Quick check-in.... I dumped 291 records into a spreadsheet and have visited 174. There's one unreachable, HIP 88559, the remainder are all bookmarked....

Was looking at heading out towards Clooku EP-Z d177, but I think that's sector 10, my other option is towards Drokoe HQ-W d2-0, which looks to be sector 5 or 6, let me know if either of those directions if available to do.

It didn't take long to see the issue here, as soon as I started bookmarking I noticed a curious pattern, then realised I was right next to Barnard's Loop and Col 70 sector, most of these systems will be permit locked! Will check them and post the results when I finish.

Ah, if there aren't many left I can let you have sector 4 and/or 6 !

After all, there must be quite a few in there, and it would be silly for ED to keep a list of them. So I would reckon the permit zone should be a sphere centered on somewhere, and with a known radius. When you look at the galaxy map in EDSM there is obviously a circular hole there. Has anyone figured this out yet ?

I believe there were a few old graphics that showed the permit locked zones in that area, but there have been some changes since (gnosis) so it would look a little different now.

After going through that list and checking for permit lock it really wasn't as bad as I thought it might be, only 26 permit locked systems, I am making a guess that other sections may be worse though, this section is just on the edge of the permit lock zone.

After completing my list of stars in sectors 7/8 I re-analysed the commander data and found that the top ten order has changed.
There are still 1400 stars with no travel data, so since the last report we have done about a third of them.
My route ended a long way from the bubble, so now have to do the adjacent sector 9.

Update: At the moment I am having to work my way around the permit locked sectors to get to the stars that are really close but not in the permit lock, a very time consuming process so it's taking longer than I expected, but it's happening, it's likely nearby sectors will have the same issue so anyone who takes one of those keep that in mind.

Decided to do one last system before logging off for the night, HIP 38764. 2 non-atmospheric planets with 2 bio signs, mapped I get 3 bio signals, so hunted for a nice picture for the gallery;

Luteolum Anemone, Lividum Brain Tree and Roseum Brain Tree all in one picture.....nice! Now to check out the NSP's in the system!

Something playing up with the EDSM database? No systems showing as discovered, same with EDDB, is it just me or affecting anyone else?

Been playing up for at least 12 hours so far, logged off last night, back on again, still playing up.

Just to add, checked and systems are known in Spansh, so not sure what is happening.

Ok I have played around with different options and it appears they have either implemented stricter rules on the text entry box in EDSM or my spreadsheet is suddenly adding an extra invisible character to the system name, problem solved, phew.

Well that's rather strange, after solving my little self inflicted problem above I have continued with my trip, working my way around the permit locked regions in this area. I took a bit of a risk and jumped my Fleet Carrier 500ly directly through the M41 Sector permit locked region, and then realised I didn't have any fuel left in the tank, well 47 tons to be exact and I wasn't sure if the FC was in an area I could reach, but a bit of roundabout flying got me to it, and this is where the strange bit comes in.

For the last few thousand light years, well more than that, every single star system has been at least discovered, many system mapped and only a very few where some planets were missed altogether but that was just a bonus. Now I am not surprised about that, I am only 2,600ly from Sol and in a very heavily travelled area of the galaxy, these permit locked regions around Barnard's Loop were and probably still are a magnet for explorers. As I said I had 47 tons of fuel in the tank, did a small jump of a couple of under 200ly to bring it a bit close to me, which left 1 ton of fuel, nice, but strangely I jumped the carrier into a completely undiscovered system, no tags on anything, stars, planets, nothing. Also the second last system I passed through was also completely undiscovered, this appears to be a little bubble of undiscovered systems right next to the M41 Sector permit locked regions, so I shall spend a bit more time here checking out the nearby systems to see of there are any more.
