Goodbye Elite Dangerous

Transferring saves between platforms should be trivial. There must be some contractual reason they don't do this. It can't be laziness can it?
Dev can help convert from console to PC via service ticket. I know 2 cmdrs switched from console to PC.
One of them owns FC and need to decommission first (took 1 month but successful in the end).

I know a few myself. In each case their assets were liquidated and the cash value moved over, nothing else. No ranks, no reputation, no engineer unlocks or engineering, no system permits, no codex, nothing except cash value of credits and assets.

Wah in that case it's already a fully restart. Hope fdev offer fully carry over to PC.

Quite frankly i'm disgusted at the way this whole sorry mess has been handled. Not what I expected from a professional British developer who previously made a commitment to being more open and honest with their customers.

What they should have said was they would be open and honest with selected customers.
How could they have handled it differently? From my understanding, they fully intended to include consoles, but with Odyssey being such a fps eater, which they obviously never intended it to be, it looks like it isn't possible anymore. So now they have told you.

Yes it's a shame they can't do it, but I fail to see where they have dishonest and not been open.

Super disappointed. Mostly disappointed in myself.
Disappointed I ever brought ARX to support development
Disappointed I brought more than one copy of the game.
Disappointed I got other people into playing it.
Disappointed I fed and pushed communities that promoted this game.
Disappointed I got other Frontier games just to give more money to the studio.

I'll be writing off any Frontier games from this point on.
Ere, why. All of those arx are still useable and you can still play the game. Unfortunately, you just won't be able to get anymore expansions for the game. But if you were having fun playing before this news, what's stopping you from having fun after this news?

How many hours playing was gonna be my question.
I'm sorry what has happened and full free transfers should ensue
If I played 6000 hours on console, I'd go get a PC because the game is worth it.
Made me get a new GPU to be fair
I don't see them shutting the servers down on Horizons until there's 10 users.
You don't need Odyssey to continue with PvP, squads and CGs in Horizons, correct?
2 centavos

With thousands of hours invested.

A merge from PC to console years ago. A wonderful dquadron. Friendships formed and bonded. Over 1200 pvp kills, over 25 billion credits earned. Maxed out all materials, over 20 individually min/maxed ship builds, not a single thing I havnt done in this game. To support the game i also own every single cosmetic in the game on console. It saddens me to say this but I officially, and with great resentment, hang my tags.

Frontier, you held the market for so long with this niche game. But your poor decisions and bizzare focus and failure to listen to a large portion of the community created a drop off in player base..we still had the game in high hopes on the back burner waiting for your update on odyssey for console. But because of your delay, people began losing interest. And then you slap us in the face with an ultimatum. All development is to end on console. I know you came to this decision because you saw the drop in activity....the drop that you created. I love your game, i love what you've done. Please take this as a learning moment. I am sorry to say, I wont be the last to leave a dying game. This could have been prevented with integrity and open and punctual communication but there was none. We played on and played your guessing game. But it dragged on to long.

I wish you well frontier, i hope maybe you release a new version of ED some day. But as it stands, the game is dead to me and many others share the same sentiment. It isnt just about Odyssey, arguably, we could do fine without it, we have for years. What we cant deal with though, is being abandoned.

I totally understand your frustration, but I would advise you to buy a PC... EDO is cool, and will get cooler. If you were playing it, you would realize that it is nowhere near dying. But all of you need total PORTABILITY to PC! I actually think that most console player are frustrated today, say they will leave in grandiose terms... but will do the move anyway.

Hotas only since 2014, and killed over 8000 cmdrs, and had overall about atleast 30k PVP encounters so far. Currently not much as active in PVP, but still get few cmdrs kills each time I play, as those who I do meet and if they aint flying PVP setups, they do perish before me cuz I have habit to KOS anyone I can instance with, especially if it happens on anarchies./ Cant get rid of my evil side, but again, I do not even close to what I did on my prime.

I died only 194 times, wich about 94% of it was from suicide attacks near stations, wich all of it, caused death to another cmdr while I was into it. It was quite simple, I used 5% hull eagle, and if they was speeding near station above 100 m/s, my ram into them ended up station killing them. I only attacked big 3 or PVP ships, mostly at CG.

Very few only bested me on 1v1, and those even not playing anymore, and aint saw anyone that much good since 2 years now. But some kids these days are more toxic kind of.

I played with K&M a bit, when my first hotas died out, maked railgun sniping easier but still I prefer hotas anyway. Better feel of ship, and better immershun for me, so buyed second hotas and using it till today.

Does it matters? Nah, I dont think anyone would care about it.
Except the ones who discover solo/PG mode, thanks to you.

Word.

Abandoned and totally deceived.

After the stuff that has happened recently with M$ Games/Bethesda, EA games and Epic (just to name the ones I can think of off the top of my head) etc. and decades with Elite I thought FD was one games studio I could still trust.

How wrong I was.

Every game needs those kind of players and at the least he's being honest about it.
Nah, no game "needs" players like that - it's just difficult to imagine gaming without them because they're so prevalent. But given the number of "Why is nobody playing in open?" threads over the years, it seems clear that more players than not prefer to enjoy the game themselves rather than be the entertainment for others.

That's just because people don't make threads about not being ganked. They're not that prevalent at all and I would wager they make up just a tiny percentage of any playerbase. ED has just failed to entice people to band together against these kind of players and it has also failed to provide proper DMZs or "noob friendly" zones with appropriate (system) security response.

Edit: Likewise, it has also failed to provide any interesting avenues for PVP bar the disconnected CQC mode.

Firstly, sorry to hear your understandable upset.

The quoted line resonates. So many of the 'great exciting ideas' FDev have come up with made, for me, no sense. I think many were inappropriate reactions to being stung with 'not an MMO' criticisms. But really, what percentage uses multicrew, CQC, wings, Power-play? I suspect it is very low in the overall user-base.

Remember the rule of thumb, the average is that 10% of players have accounts on 'the forum' and only 2-4% actually post.

They don't make a lot of threads about being ganked, either - I was talking about the gankers, making threads about not having anyone to play with.
They're not that prevalent at all and I would wager they make up just a tiny percentage of any playerbase.
Griefers are plenty prevalent across gaming in general - the fact that they're such a small minority of the ED player base is one of the more appealing aspects of ED.

But... we have banded together - in private groups. Taking on the gankers in open would give them exactly what they want; much more effective to deny them that entirely, because it means we can play the game without having to adjust how we play to accommodate an entirely incompatible play style.

It doesn't matter how interesting the PvP is, to players who simply aren't interested in PvP ;)

Every game needs those kind of players and at the least he's being honest about it.
no they really don't ! but that is ok as elite gives players the tools to ignore them.. it's just a shame that genuine PvP piracy and bounty hunting took a hit as well

I totally get the console players frustration however..... I went through it myself 12 months ago with VR. and yes much like console players can still play the old content it does pull the rug knowing your hardware won't be supported going forward. technically I can still play the new content and I have tried, but I doubt I will last much longer

There was no way you would of had Ody on consoles, with the graphics just wouldnt of been able to handle it.
I spent 4 yrs on console XB to get to trade elite had 12 ships and billions of money.
I now have a gaming rig for Ody and last week made Trade Elite in around 9 months or something, have 4 ships 430m, yes i started again and love the game, but i also play EDH on XBOX so with CMDRS complaining at how much time they have spent on the game, either get a pc, start again like i did, enjoy all the content or go play something else like Rebel Galaxy outlaw

and yet frontier believed they would. it's easy saying that with hindsight. I still think the game must be really badly optimised somewhere along the lines. ED:O doesn't look that much better than ED:H and yet runs significantly poorer

but either way that still does not excuse not releasing on PS5/Xbox series..... unless FD don't think the franchise has legs to commit long term
