Well I watched that all the way through, but I must have missed the "homophobic" bit. Could you point me to it? Yamiks' language is certainly the sort that will make the usual suspects all a-tremble, but adults will be unaffected.

I'm not a big fan of Yamiks and I don't subscribe to his YouTube channel, but I'm with him all the way on this. It's the usual corporate tactic of turning the screw on insufficiently sycophantic reviewers.

ok

I didn't see any claim he was homophobic, even on Fdev statement that was quoted. They stay vague and doesn't provide any source.
Yamick certainly use a NSFW language, and is harsh toward Fdev, and that's the reason he was not invited. As a reminder, per the people who were part of the program, the people they talk to had the title of "influencer managers". Yamicks is anything but a positive influencer for the game.

It was a marketing operation, and Yamicks is not nice toward Fdev or the game, while using a colorful language. As such he is not good publicity. Obviously.

The term NSFW used in this article does not necessarily (but can, among other things) mean "homophobic" content.
Obviously not seen his earlier videos then.

Again see above, comparing the dev's work to abortions was pretty much his standard line and any good points he makes are ruined by his usual 'Edge-lord' behaviour. I mean, a five minute abusive rant about how an interstellar initiative was ruined because there wasn't a graphical update to the multi-cannon you got as a reward and how lazy the devs were, that's when he went from toilet humour funny to just plain offensive and if he thinks the game is over and he stops doing videos, I'm not going to miss them.

With thousands of hours invested.

A merge from PC to console years ago. A wonderful dquadron. Friendships formed and bonded. Over 1200 pvp kills, over 25 billion credits earned. Maxed out all materials, over 20 individually min/maxed ship builds, not a single thing I havnt done in this game. To support the game i also own every single cosmetic in the game on console. It saddens me to say this but I officially, and with great resentment, hang my tags.

Frontier, you held the market for so long with this niche game. But your poor decisions and bizzare focus and failure to listen to a large portion of the community created a drop off in player base..we still had the game in high hopes on the back burner waiting for your update on odyssey for console. But because of your delay, people began losing interest. And then you slap us in the face with an ultimatum. All development is to end on console. I know you came to this decision because you saw the drop in activity....the drop that you created. I love your game, i love what you've done. Please take this as a learning moment. I am sorry to say, I wont be the last to leave a dying game. This could have been prevented with integrity and open and punctual communication but there was none. We played on and played your guessing game. But it dragged on to long.

I wish you well frontier, i hope maybe you release a new version of ED some day. But as it stands, the game is dead to me and many others share the same sentiment. It isnt just about Odyssey, arguably, we could do fine without it, we have for years. What we cant deal with though, is being abandoned.

My man! I wish you so much luck on diferent battlefield.

There was no way you would of had Ody on consoles, with the graphics just wouldnt of been able to handle it.
I spent 4 yrs on console XB to get to trade elite had 12 ships and billions of money.
I now have a gaming rig for Ody and last week made Trade Elite in around 9 months or something, have 4 ships 430m, yes i started again and love the game, but i also play EDH on XBOX so with CMDRS complaining at how much time they have spent on the game, either get a pc, start again like i did, enjoy all the content or go play something else like Rebel Galaxy outlaw
I've seen better graphics on older consoles - the issue is not the graphics. The bottleneck is not the hardware.

They fell behind schedule, likely due to a global pandemic and other world events, but if they had enough time, it can be done. But they're already so far behind, and constantly dealing with armchair game developers insisting that they are either incompetent or intentionally trolling the player base - and trying to maintain two separate code bases is only continuing to slow them down. I can't blame them - many players have already made it quite clear that, even if FDev delivered everything we wanted and then some tomorrow, they would still find excuses to complain
but either way that still does not excuse not releasing on PS5/Xbox series..... unless FD don't think the franchise has legs to commit long term
The base game is from the previous generation of consoles - how would they release DLC that is exclusive to the generation after the one the game was built for? That would take an already complicated situation and complicate it even further (especially for PS4 players, since PS5s are still hard to get)

Ostensibly, this is just a goodbye post, which seems to have run its predicable course.

Move along people, nothing to see here.
