Gradually Losing Respect for Frontier Development - Here is Why

And besides, I believe Michael has already stated that those who took advantage will be dealt with in due course. Looking back over your points I see no substance to any of them.

The billionaires took advantage as well. They even had been given the direct choice by FD. I can't think of any reason why a game developer would come to this solution. Do you?

Why do you care do you have any less Fun playing or is it some Serverfirst thingi ??? I dont get it there 50 out of probably 50.000 so what?

Hi Marikc,

There were a few people (less than 50) that were accidentally given 5 billion credits by a process that was refunding credits people had lost.

It's only these accidental billionaires that have been given choice of keeping those credits, not anyone who's repeatedly used an exploit like you describe happening on IRC.

Those who repeatedly exploited the various problems that arose will be tracked down and dealt with Andy Barlow said.
The exploiters, nor the "accidental" billionaires should have any choice about keeping the credits. You are setting a very bad example.

You are entitled to your opinion and you have obviously put a lot of time and effort into expressing it. I disagree with pretty much all of the points you have made...but its a free world so rep to you sir

Dear OP why did you make another thread yur are discussing it here also https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=92890&p=1464272&viewfull=1#post1464272

everything else is veil jealously it the same as with why we did not wipe after Gamma just veil jealously because some did not play in Gamma because the thought it could be wiped.... sam thing

That is not another thread that I created. It is a response to an existing thread.

Why are you wasting my time?

Because it insults my sense of fairness. I don't want that cheated money has influence in the game at all. Not a single bit. Not 0.0000000000001%. It opens the box of pandora.

You obviously have failed to see the real point.

As far as support I've actually never personally experienced real wait times from support in 32 years. I would expect it on New Years or Christmas Day. Or Thanksgiving. Possibly weekends, but I always expect a response within 3 days. When it comes to the point that you've received no response and no assistance in 7+ days for players that can't access their account, you have a problem. That is the one ticket that should receive attention the quickest.

Like I said it wasn't even that alarming to me at first, but other alarming actions or inaction by Frontier is starting to make it feel more apparent that it's not an issue of timing, but rather a series of continually repeating low quality of service and development.

This. +rep to you.
I recently (beginning of Dec) bought a £10 mouse, by 20th of Dec it was faulty. I contacted customer support, got a reply next day, asking me if a replacement would be okay? They then emailed me on Christmas day to say it would be dispatched ASAP and it arrived on the Sunday after Christmas, and I never had to return the old unit.
Great customer service for a £10 item.

Frontier should be ashamed of their customer support.

veil jealously

Thats a bit harsh, I too think that the 5b credit should have been refunded. But because I didn't get it but because they break the credibility of the game. We've already had one of those people affected saying that he wants credit transfers so he could give some new starts credits or cargo.

There have a been a lot of threads over the past years about pay-to-win scenarios and how FDev should not allow this in ED. But this is basically the same thing. Also It sets a very dangerous president when another of this incidents happens again (and it will).

What FDev should have done is taken the 5b off the users and maybe given then a sorry gift which wouldn't really affect the game mechanics (IE 1m Credit, free skin etc).

Inexperience of what a multiplayer community is all about and the responsibilities that go with it? That's all I can put it down to. And its backed up by the fact that they released the game to the masses a week before the main public holiday, left it woefully understaffed with game support that was probably working from home (the Frontier offices were closed from Dec 24th to Jan 5th according to that support). So yeah, all this leads me to believe Frontier Developments are a little inexperienced when it comes to dealing with this type of online only - online always, game and the type of gaming community that has bought into it.

A lot of players have come from other MMOs where this kind of thing rarely (if at all) happens. I still remember the T2 mining laser incident in the early days of Eve and how the community went in uproar over one guy getting a rare BPO off a dev. CCP learned lessons that day.

In an online community that shares the same gameworld - however loosely we interact with each other - developers should always err on the side of fairness even if they (and many players) think its no big deal. Lessons have to be learned. Every developer scores a few own goals now and then, FD have bagged a hattrick of them in their games' first month of release. Lets hope there are no more to follow.

Jeolousy implicates I would have taken the money. Maybe you would've done it, but I wouldn't even think about it. I want that big ships have to be earned by them as by everyone else. I find your sense of fairness irritating. Besides: If you have nothing to lose, you behave differently. This exploits the whole risk vs reward concept of the game.

I definitely wouldn't have taken those credits either. That is where it would have effected me personally. I don't even cheat in single player titles, because the minute that I do, I am bored and my immersion is gone. Getting there myself is what makes a game enjoyable. Mods are one thing, though I have to stay away from mods that are out of place or unbalanced.

I couldn't care less about some players getting lots of in game money. I can't see how it can do anything other than ruin the game for them. After flying all ships with maximum loadout, they are pretty much done.

It is worrying that some people have paid for the game but cannot yet play. Even if it's down to "problems with their PC", they should be getting swift attention from FD - I hope this situation gets turned around very quickly.

You are looking from single player perspective and you wont or cant look out of your box. Game is sold with marketing slogans about interactive universe, MMO and similar stuff.
