Great Raxxla Potato Hunt - Help us scan every system within 200 ly of Sol

Status Update for Week of 2021-10-09 : 2021-10-16

We've scanned 2,506 / 5,123 grid sections (+31), which is 48.92% of our search grid.
That includes 36,433 / 67,941 systems (+390), which is 53.62% of systems.*

Notes:
  • CMDR Aehnkantos found a Crashed Ship with a Thargoid Sensor on Waruta 1 A.
  • CMDR Aehnkantos found a Crashed Ship on CD-54 4840 A 1 C.
  • 26 Megaships
  • 29 Moons
  • 4 Capital Ships
* (estimated from EDSM database)

Now that the search is about half complete, it is good time to start mentally preparing for the inevitable end result and the next step in the search.
I predict the end result of this potato hunt to be: no Raxxla found.
Next step will of course be: enter each and every Belt Cluster in all those systems. Optionally also each ring of every gas giant with 8 moons.

Bonus Post:

I noticed I had a datapoint from almost exactly a year ago, so here is our progress over the last year. The bars are stacked on top of each other (not layered in front of one another).

Another way to look at progress is by "shells" of 50-ly thickness. Our priority system has always emphasized the 150-200 ly range, as that focuses the search on the edge of the bubble. (The 200+ ly category is a sanity check on the formulae.)

Thats pretty much my plan when we finish, use the data we've gathered to make a narrower search on specifics

Did the title of this thread change since its inception? Because I remember ignoring it on purpose in the beginning (since Raxxla was mentioned and I wasn't interested in another theory).

Anyway, I've been looking since months to get back into the pilots seat (albeit, likely not as often as before) and discovered that this actually is a systematic survey … well, I'm up for that. But I fear I'll be a bit slow, due to flying on PS4 and life (and other games). But i guess every scanned sector helps :) .

Edit: I just ralized that I'm parked close to the center of the galaxy. So it'll take a while before I'm back … sigh

Its not how slow you operate but your input, if every cmdr playing right now just did one system each it would still be a great help to this survey

Indeed, we appreciate every contribution. If everyone on the Discord server scanned 4 grids (~50 systems) we'd be done.

The title of this thread has not changed, but I think I posted a prospective thread to gauge interest in the before times. Maybe you saw that. I agree it's better to think of this as a survey rather than tinfoil. =]

If you have any questions when you're back in the bubble, just let us know.

This almost sounds like a troll by FDev to get players to login and search for something that may or may not even really exist in the game but, I do not think FDev really wants anyone to "discover" Raxxla. If Raxxla is ever found I believe players will very quickly learn that it is ephemera, with zero relevance to actual gameplay except as something to search the galaxy for. o7
Unfortunately I feel same. I lost faith that there is a lot of easter eggs, unknown undiscovered objects or even more, story lines. So much unused potential.
