Grey flashes on CV1

I'm getting the dreaded grey flashes like we did on the dk2. I've tried different ports, core unparking and nothing seems to be helping. All other games have no problems, it's just Elite. I'm running a 4.7ghz amd proc with 16gb ram and a gtx1080 so this is a bit frustrating. FPS is fine, just the grey flash problem. I believe it's the tracker as I can replicate it by putting my hand over the front of the rift and the screen goes grey. Had the tracker in different positions too but no luck stopping it yet. Any ideas?

I get these, but for split nano seconds- only sometimes when I look down and left.
Dunno why though.

Your rig seems up to the task;
Are there any environmental influences in the area? Like sunlight or mirrors? Any weird backlighting?

Can you reproduce it consistently?

I have recalibrated.

I have a window directly behind me but I have no issues with any other games other than Elite and it happens at night time with the curtains closed too. It happens constantly but randomly and the effect is the same as putting my hand over the front of the rift to block the receivers, although it does it for a split second causing a grey flash.

Gotcha.
I had an issue with trackIR because there was window next to my Ultra Mega Super Secret World Domination Command War Ops Center. (my desk)
My issue stopped after I put up black out shades.

But if you get the issues at night..... Well, thats something different.

Everything is plugged into USB 3 ports?
No powered hub?

I get this too. It may sound stupid, and if it is would somebody correct me, but could it be one of the "spacedust" particle effects (the ones used to show movement)
coming straight at the players eyes and causing the momentary flash? Just a guess.

That's an interesting thought. Are the grey flashes seen while sitting in the hanger?

I've gotten these flashes sometimes and it almost seemed like it was related to my thrusters somehow. Can't make it happen on command though.

I'm getting occasional white flashes, like someone is setting off a camera flash right in front of my eyes (the source of the flash seems to be about a third of the way to the left/right of the centre of the image) and it usually happens when I look left and right and I think it's happening upon take-off as well (only had an hour or two in the Rift so far). Is that the same as what you are getting?

It is unfortunate that you have this issue, but I am pleased that you have posted about it. I have similar issue with my Rift and I was wondering whether it was faulty :).

I see Malic_T on twitch having this issue as well. I think he's using a DK2 though. It's the Rift losing tracking but he doesn't know why. It's somewhat reproduce-able as it seems to happen most often when he is close to the surface of a landable planet with another celestial body in close orbit.
