I played lineage 2 as well and it can't be compared with elite. In LA2 there is always a race. A race to be first in some activitty, to be stronger than someone, to become a hero. Elite is about casual gameplay with no hurry. Npc won't harass you if you don't have full G5 equip you know.I played lineage 2 around 15 years ago and i can tell you that the grind in elite is rookie level compared to what was in L2, but it was a time when i did not have a wife and Kids. So dont lecture me about getting free stuff, because now i grind money to pay for the house loan.
I know the grind in elite will not go away, but that does not mean, it cant be done in a more sensible way that actually endorses the activity you prefer doing. Thats all i want. I never got anything for free in my life, and although its just game, a sense of reasonble accomplishment is also important.
There are bunch of missions and all of them somehow rewards you with mats (and as a bonus - loot). If you don't want play "foot" missions so much - then you don't need G5. With G3 (even g1 btw) you can easily destroy everything on HAZCZ and get your elite rank.endorses the activity you prefer doing
I mean, I'm elite level, I have money en masse, why should I do grunt work![]()
Hope you're selling selectivelyI have FPS issues in Combat so I've been taking Threat 3 reactivation missions, mostly no NPC's and insane levels of material and loot. Missions average 90K Cr but I make between 1 - 2 million Cr on Data and loot while gathering large amounts of Mats
From what I can tell, it's basically unnecessary to have more than G3 level stuff, which you can just buy in a shop. The combat difficulty doesn't seem to justify getting any higher than that.
You can PVP in Odyssey? Then G3 should be the top grade because, you know, this is a multiplayer game and it's not exactly good to PvP using inferior gear...
Haha, I don't care about other player's gear... Try to find me out there with a G5 and maxed weapons, good luckThen G3 should be the top grade because, you know, this is a multiplayer game and it's not exactly good to PvP using inferior gear...

And I don'tWell, you would, if you wanted to PvP.
You can PVP in Odyssey?
Where??? Send me in that direction.

Upgrading to "beat the Joneses" isn't a thing in Odyssey. And it's nothing like (I mean it, NOTHING LIKE) ship engineering. I'm at G5 with one weapon already. And almost with a suit. It was efforless compared to getting a PVP-ready ship. And likely a billion times more balanced too.I certainly can't, first and foremost because I don't even have the dlc.
(Maybe I'll buy it later, once the issues have been fixed, but certainly not in its current state.)
The problem isn't that you need to find "stuff" to upgrade, it's not even the amount of "stuff" that's the problem.
The problem is that it doesn't really happen "naturally" enough, add to that, some of the "stuff" is just .. such common things, like wiring or a random computer. This makes it feel weird because this junk must just be in hundreds of shops, and why is it so useful anyway?
The data can sort of get away with it, data could be unique etc.
Copper wiring.... Should not be a material for upgrades, unless you can just buy it. It's very silly.
But the main thing is lack of natural feeling progression, as someone said earlier in the thread

This is a single player game with half-baked multiplayer functions tacked on.
I don't understand why you need to craft upgrades at all. I don't need to hand craft a red dot for my AR-15 in real life, nor do I have to have my barrel custom made or anything else. You'd think that in 1000+ years, a lot of these things would be made with attachments in mind and there would be already established companies producing attachments for these things.
It's very gamey and extremely immersion breaking.
