I don't have any issues with smoothness in extended mode, but there's this grey "film" effect over the game in the rift causing the image (especially black/dark colors) to posterize. In direct mode, I get the opposite. Poor performance but the blacks are much deeper and the image is much crisper.
I've tried switching the Rift to the DVI port instead of HDMI because I saw someone mentioned that helped them, but it made no difference in mine.
I've tried several resolutions but the "film" always seems to be present unless it's in direct mode.
I've followed all of the pinned posts on how to setup the DK2 for a 980, and like I said, it runs quite well, but it looks like crap
