Guest Leaving for no reason and getting refund

How many guests do you have in this zoo? Is the monorail having profits?

My zoo currently has 3000 guests. It’s not that large in regard to species, but already spans quite a bit of area. I use the guest limit function and only increase the number when I have added more habitats and facilities. The monorail also helps to distribute guests faster.

The monorail is profitable, but not by a lot. I experimented with the ticket price a bit. $6 so far seems to be the sweet spot. $7 seems to have reduced the number of guests taking the ride and set off the potentially higher income from the ticket price. I’ll have to test whether $5 might increase the numbers sufficiently to increase the profit more. And letting more guests into the zoo might also have an impact.

But even if the monorail caused a tolarable financial loss, that would be OK since I love to see how happy the guests are about it! :) Their happiness - which drastically decreases when they have to walk too far without seeing animals - gets quite a boost during the ride. I still have to find where they get highest boost, whether it’s scenery or animals (they pass by only a few habitats) or both. Right now, my money is more on the scenery aspect since this is also rated for the stations and from a previous ride I remember the guests commenting on the scenery, ut not on the animals. Maybe the 4x4 works differently since this is more the typical safari ride vehicle where animals are at the center of interest.

great, thanks. There are not many people around with working rides. could you share a map of the zoo to see how you outlined the track?

There is really not much to show. The first station is off to the side of the entrance building. The track then goes all around the outside of the zoo (10 habitats so far) along the habitat barriers, which often are natural hills (I dread the moment when I will have to do more terraforming along the tracks when I start my “Himalayas”. I probably will have to lay the tracks again.) Due to hills, the passengers don’t get to see any animals 75% of the ride. Then back near the other side of the entrance, the tracks cross the main path back to the first station. I haven’t had time yet to check whether guests actually use the monorail to go back to the entrance area and if that changes when I put in another station on the other side of the entrance for that purpose. But it might very well be that the ride is more or less empty on its way back since there is nothing else along the way. Maybe I have to place a habitat there with a station to generate income from that stretch as well.

The ride was not planned since there were so many issues with rides previously and is therefore a bit messy. Hopefully, beautiful scenery will make it appear less so. But so far, after some fiddling with the settings, it seems to work without issues. Now I can go back to two other abandoned zoo projects that rely on rides. Too many zoos, too little time! :)
