Guest routing is sometimes hilarious

I accidentally clicked the close button when renaming my franchise zoo, but even though I reopened it immidiately...almost all of the current visitors had already changed their AI to going home and made a mass rush for the exit. Talk about a cluster-frack of congestion at the zoo entrance. It really sucks that we can't edit the entrance to give it more room for an outflow/inflow on this scale.

you can build additional custom zoo
entrances if you need.

How do I do that in franchise mode? The option to place zoo entrance parts (specifically the thing where guests appear and disappear) and the ticket booths are not available anywhere that I can find...and the ones I've downloaded are always "locked" and can't be placed, I assume due to the fact that those two components are not available.

Imagine closing your zoo, spend hours rebuilding your zoo to be better, more beauty and efficient, and suddenly the entrance is blocking the visitors on their ways in. Re-laying the road, moving the two closest habitat, nothing worked. I am to impatient to wait for devs to come and check, because I am not positive enough that they will respond faster than I can build a new zoo. They designed the entrance that way for a reason.

Yah, I get some people ended up having problems before they made it so you couldn't do all the editing of it. I think it would have been better to give a really, really big warning pop-up to proceed-at-your-own-risk when you started to do the edits, rather than just remove the ability completely. I just want it wider, or better yet to add a second entrance like some of the career zoos had. 2 ticket booths wide is pathetic for a large zoo.

Yes, unfortunately you can't edit the entrance (or place a second one) in franchise mode .

Speaking of congestion at the entrance...

Yesterday, one of the main paths of my zoo was somehow "broken". I don't know what happened, the path was built decades ago and it worked fine until yesterday. I just noticed that my zoo was less crowded, although the number of guests was still the same. So I checked everything and "a few" guests were stuck on a path:

First, I tried to move these folks by hand - but no chance!
Next step: I deleted the small piece of the path under the group so all of them respawned at the entrance. That was the result:

All these guests were stuck on that little piece of path -> they gridlocked the entrance for half a ingame-year. 😂

Yes, being popular has its drawbacks :ROFLMAO:

@Arletario, I have had that path issue in all of my zoos since the patch a week and a half ago. Every zoo had a few places where paths that were fine for weeks suddenly were causing visitors (or staff in some cases of staff paths) to get stuck.

In one of my zoos I didn't notice it until barriers started breaking because all of my maintenance staff for the workzone they were in were stuck on the same spot of path. In another zoo I had the same issue you show in your last screenshot; so many visitors were stuck on one spot that they clogged my entrance for over a game-year after I had deleted the pathway to rebuild it.

I think Frontier changed some things related to pathfinding and it is causing some issues with existing pathways. Hopefully they fix it, but until then rebuilding the paths has worked, although in a few cases I had to slightly change the specific path layout.

Haven't had issue that affect guests yet, but my mechanics were getting stuck at one spot on a path.

I didn't notice at first, but I started getting warnings of power supplies wearing out, plus habitat barriers weren't being maintained as well as they should. Initially I just added more mechanics since I had pre-built a lot of infrastructure in my current sandbox zoo. It was just by chance I happened to notice a gaggle of them all stuck in one spot.

Moved them and rebuilt the path. Hopefully it'll work now.

I had this happen to me on one of the campaign maps. (The one with all the cliff and islands that is a hot mess) There are a lot of switch-back staircases in that map that the guests and staff were getting stuck on. I only noticed cause one of my animals was stuck in a crate that was being transported by a staff member that was stuck there.

I had to delete it, let the game run for a few seconds, then undo the deletion to fix the problem.
