Not by having a straight-up fight like the armored dinosaurs, but my idea is that when a theropod charges in for an attack, the hadrosaur can use its tail as a defensive measure, attempting to hit the theropod with it as it spins around to flee or swinging at the theropod as it changes direction while being pursued. Have it be a random behavior to give it more naturality. Against small theropods the hadrosaurs could do that as well as try to simply charge past and/or trample the attackers, not killing them but dealing serious injuries that require a trip to the vet building.

Yeah, this doesn't sound all too realistic or believable... the most I would expect of fighting hadrosaurs is kicking a predator that is biting it or rearing up and swinging its arms when cornered or against smaller attackers.
What's unrealistic about a hadrosaur using its large heavy tail as a last-ditch defensive weapon?

Well, hadrosaurs are huge and their tails weren't very flexible... it sounds highly dubious they could just swing their tails around like some kind of whip. It would kind of be like gluing a baseball bat to your butt and trying to swing it by shaking your hips... only on something the size of an elephant.
Wasn't talking about whipping it, they could simply slam it against the attacking theropod as they spin around to flee or change direction while fleeing. Considering the theropod comes up right next to the hadrosaur going for its neck a sudden turn in the opposite direction brings the tail against the theropod.
Hmmm.... that kinda sounds like a slapstick gag... or an accident caused by a very poorly timed attack...
Or yknow they could use their arms, legs, beak, or body to slam, kick, or bite the attacker

Yeah... no.
Yeah right... it's not that much bigger... certainly not sauropod bigger... and unlike a sauropod, which at least had big feet and thick legs (and even then, the idea of one stepping on something the size of a Tyrannosaurus is somewhat dubious; it would have to get those forelimbs really high into the air and then bring them down again with reasonable accuracy, which seems unlikely) a hadrosaur, even one like Shantungosaurus, doesn't have a lot of meat on those limbs... unless it was doing a belly flop onto a Tyrannosaurus skull, the idea a Shantungosaurus crushing a Tyrannosaurus sounds extremely unlikely.

Tyrannosaurus is the largest predator ever to live on land with a bite force unmatched by any other theropod dinosaur, with excellent senses of sight and smell to help it track prey. It had massive lungs and could run down its prey for hours without tiring. It's also very complete, and its growth stages are well-documented.
Tyrannosaurus is quite literally the epitome of the GA's view of a dinosaur and has been iconic since its discovery.
People who call Rex overused have clearly never done any research into the real animal, which is much more interesting than any of its pop-culture incarnations.
I'm an advocate for defensive hadrosaurs, but a battle between a giant hadrosaur and a tyrannosaurus would have definitely been a spectacle, not a beatdown on either side.
Might wanna do something about that fanboyism... it's clearly dictating your thoughts. What I said would apply to any large carnivore... could have been Acrocanthosaurus or Carcharadontosaurus... it doesn't make a difference really.
And crush a large carnivore against a wall? First it would need a wall... then it would need to corner the carnivore against the wall... then it would need the intelligence and/or drive needed to squish the carnivore between its body and the wall. For all three to happen? It'd have to be very lucky... sounds far more like random chance than anything deliberately doable...

This is a wonderful ideas. it would be cool to see my favorite dinosaur - the hadrosaur - be able to take down large dinosaurs. May god be with us when this incident occurs
