Hardest Grind Ever

5 months of killing pirates every night to get the 50,000 I needed to get from position 10 to no.1. It takes a special constitution to achieve things like this. Thankfully, this is one of the few activities in the game that can't be achieved by scripts., unlike mining, carrying passengers, trading, travelling, etc., and I can't think of any way that any other sorts of cheats would help because the main limiting factor is the spawn rate, and you don't need to cheat to keep up with it. AFK 10s are too slow and would have taken mnore than a year, but they've been confounded by the wings of high rank ships that drop in from time to time that would make short work of a T10 with only turreted lasers.

During the time of the project, I learnt everything about NPC behaviour. Now I can kill pirates while watching Netflix.

What was the point? I'm bored with the game and just wanted something to do, while I wait for NMS updates and expeditions. Don't give me a medal because I don't have a chest to put it on. All you haters can have a field day.

P.s. The game's dead.
That’s quite a mountain you climbed cmdr, but Frontier could you please make it so that we have ‘impossible’ missions to take on, that require skill, cunning, planning, determination, that we can brag about without doing the same thing every day for 5 months (and isn’t killing thargoids with a stock sidey)?

are you aware the game does not count all clean kills?

my point is you won nothing and you did it by beating no-one.
amazing

300+ kills per day *375 days
and I was only #252 on the squadron combat list.
Clean ships only.
then feed your BGS on top of that.
try that.

This was a war that was forced on me and lasted a while.

At least you could have helped someone and been useful.
Contribute your kills to something that had a meaning .

just no words..
o, I was wrong. I had words.

I do have a question
did you kill a specific npc faction?
If even a partial yes or maybe, did any of them ever send assassin's to get you?

I am not on INaRA either.
but I did get the Combat medal.

One of my favourite features of this game is that one can set really big goals & work towards them, either as a straight achievement or in competition with others.

Well done OP for achieving your goal, it was a big one :)
(I don't have an Inara account but I checked my codex & I have 54,933 bounties claimed).

Some people are too thick to get it. I've been on this forum a long time. It's in its final death throws now, which Is why I posted this thread. I knew it would get all the haters going because that's all that's left. Help yourself to as much as you want and look forward to my doom post next week to get your next fill. I usually do one a month to keep you going.
So many people here cry out "doom"... 🥱 Just one more now. I am sure FDev is really concerned.

Irony

Hardest grind was trying to get to Warrant officer. Or warden profiter, what do I know. I played the game 1 month and did the missions and stuff for the feds. I made like 2% progress in a whole month. That was the time with all the engineer crap and NPC flying faster in reverse than forward and this type of crap just piled up and up and up. I just couldn't do it anymore. The bulletsponge, the RNG, the bloody grind - credits, mats, reputation. I realised this was all just pointless Beschäftigungstherapie, not a game to have fun in.
It's one thing to just play something else, it's another to leave a 500 h playthrough just because a new update really screwed over players at the time.
Respecting our time my rear.

Mainly the same faction all the time, as i was doing massacre missions at the same time, so made 100 billion while I was doing it. With my now 400 billion I might be able to afford a starport or two when we get them. I can't say about assassins because the missions send ships after you. I just kill them all anyway, so it makes no difference. Often in the middle of a farming session, I get a mission critical message, but I never look at them because they don't change anything.

TBH I play this game alot less now. Doesn't mean I think it is dead though!

I guess I have always treated it less as an on-line service wassname game but instead as a co-op game.

I am a bit bored with it now but blimey that's because I'm human and I also have the attention span of a fish. The wife and I still dip into it.

A bit selfish but our gameplay style and play frequency would be fully satisfied with FD writing a small GalNet article every now and again (in addition to the auto galaxy updates) to keep the universe alive for our 'murshun.

I think the game as it is stands fine. :)
