Has anyone seen a hard number for jump range for the new exploration ship coming soon?

I am thinking I had about 80 or a little more light years jump with a Conda, but it has been years. I am thinking we should get 90-100 with the new ship.

Simple.. Beats the anaconda.

So range has to be >91,30 ly
I don't think it that simple. The statement "better than an Anaconda" was just vague enough to give those who enjoy it room for speculation. Personally I think the above mentioned statement doesn't include silly stuff like the one-jump Jumpaconda, I think Zac was talking about real-world sensible, usable builds.

But then again people have already thrown around fantasy numbers like 100+ ly, so I guess there will be plenty of salt when we get the real ship. As always.

Quite probably but if it can outjump a sane build Conda then if built for maximum lunacy it will probably up there with the one shot tissue paper Conda.

This, so much this.

I will have the new ship, and I am not expecting miracles, but by being better than the Anaconda I mean I doubt we will have to have a basically empty weak shell to have decent jump range. I hope we can get 90-100 out of it while still having good internals and such.

It might only get 70 LYs per jump with decent innards, we may have to reduce the innards quite a bit to get very numbers, but I hope not.

I may be totally off with the 90-100 LY range but the Asp X gets 65 very easily with great innards, and I do not think that hoping for an extra 25-40 LYs per jump on a totally new and specialized ship is unrealistic, although what is realistic in a space game sim to begin with lol.

TBH, I am not pinning all my hopes on it, it is actually no big deal at all, because I hate jumping more than just about anything in the game.

Even with a 100 LY per jump range, I'd sometimes rather prepare the FC to jump and go do something until it is time to jump rather than spam the scan, jump[, scoop fuel, scan jump process 5 times.

Jumping the carrier twice in a row makes me nuts, it drives me crazy and I want to rip my hair out, so that would be 10 jumps in the new ship if it has 100 LY jump range.

I like the money from exploring, but I hate the traveling.

I will never ever make it to Colonia unless I ride the full trip on a FC of someone I trust, and then return to the bubble with them or suicide and accept the Sidewinder.

As stated above, we (at the time of writing this) only have vague marketing statements about the jump range without context as to what build the jump range comparison refers to. FDev's idea of what a 'typical' ship build should be often differs from the community's ideas..

That said, they are out to sell early access to ships, so that might tempt them to abandon game balance and go with something OP which will sell.

Also bear in mind, that this is a medium ship, so jump range will fall off more rapidly with total ship mass including loadout and cargo.

But at the moment, there ia too much speculation and too many Chinese whispers flying around.

Hi All :)

I don't think the statements about the jump range sound quite as vague as some in this thread have suggested:

That not an entirely conclusive statement, but they certainly seem to be referring to builds heavily optimized for jump range.

Yep, the statement in the video link you supplied does imply the jump range is going to be in the vicinity of 80 plus, given that Frontier devs know exactly (one would have thought) the very maximum jump range for a 'cut down' Anaconda is.
Of course that also depends on the type of build, module wise etc. and how players utilise those modules for their own particular uses with the Mandalay.

I just hope it flies better than the Conda. I am sure the jump range will be usable for a useful exploration build

Well...it's going to be more nimble than the Anaconda, that's for sure I think, according to the video narrative.

I'll be getting a Mandalay at some point, out of the three new ships this is definitely from my own point of view the most attractive and interesting one so far. As for using it for exploration...It'll be replacing my DBX with it for that role...maybe...but I use my Carrier as the core ship for exploration anyway, so whether the Mandalay's jump range is going to be more than 80 Lys I can't see this as being the main advantage for me personally...but obviously other unique aspects of this ship might prove more useful in the future.
My DBX's jump range is about 78 Lyrs so I don't think a couple of Lyrs is going to be that important in this respect. :)

Jack :)
