Jaques Station hasn't moved since June. Supposedly he was going to move every week.
Did they stop moving Jaques because noone goes there?
Or does noone go there because Jaques not moving any more?
Have the Devs forgotten about Jaques?
Is the fact Jaques doesn't move a bug?
Who cares?
.
I think it would be nice to have a CG to get Jaques moving again. I have a few ideas that might work:

  • Jaques drive generator has broken, so we need to truck power generators to get it going again
  • Jaques is out of fuel, so we need to truck hydrogen fuel to get him going again (the rats might like this one)
  • Jaques top shelf has run out, so we need to truck rare alcohol before he goes anywhere
  • Jaques has discovered a rare food (Sour Grapes might be a good one) and won't move until a station is built to secure his supply. This CG would create a new station and a rare good, but it needs an Earth-like planet close to Gliese 1269

.
It may be that the Devs didn't want Jaques to steal the limelight from Obsidian Orbital, that is fine. But I think it is due to lack of interest, which may be fine too. But I think it would be a shame for a unique piece of the Elite background to fade away.
.
Let's get Jaques moving again.

When they opened up submissions for player CG-s, I sent in some similar suggestions for Jaques, but got the reply that they are avoiding CG-s that affect the station. This was back in July, so I don't think a focus on Obsidian Orbital was a factor at the time.

What is Jaques Station?

If you're serious, it's a station that's supposed to warp to a new location every now and then. A sort of mobile home away from home flying around the fringes of human space.

In reality it's just a more or less static station with giant engines sitting in the middle of nowhere. Put it in the galaxy map search and go pop by.

Looking into the far future, it would be nice if it had a special bar just for Founders or Elites, when we get the walk about stations module.

It needs some kind of on-going adventure attached to it, otherwise whats the point?

They could have it exploring outside of human space and visiting some of the nebulas etc.

Hi :)

Well... as a side note I dropped in on the station on my way back from Alioth, but that was probably about a month ago. He was still selling the booze...so he hasn't run out of liquor yet I think! :D
Probably (but I'm only guessing) there will be a bit more interest from the Devs once Horizons is released?...there could be more interesting/varied ways of supplying the station with what it 'needs' to get moving again maybe, once we'll be able to land on some planets. ;)
As for the poll...I'm not sure which way to vote at the moment, on second thoughts I'll vote for getting it moving again, but I suspect at 'some' time it will anyway, it's just a matter of 'when' I suppose. :)
.
Jack :)

That's exactly what I'm hoping is the case, that they are sidetracked and that they will improve the gameplay too.
.
But I think Jaques hasn't moved because someone:D sold some black market bee drones that have broken the generator.

Was hoping Jaques would be far into his exploration trip by now, would have been great fun tagging along with him!

I think some pilots just don't know about it or they didn't notice where it moved. You just search Jaques in the system search function and it will point to Gliese 1269. It's a somewhat risky approach depending on the ship and fuel stores and it's the only time I almost had to call the fuel rats even with a fuel scoop. Learned not to get lazy with topping off.

I still go there on my rares route. The rares come in a pretty high amount and they sell at a good value. It feels a little awkward selling off most of the hold there if you run a route that ends there but I suppose it's realistic for a station at the edge of populated space to need things. The approach is a little wonky more like a platform approach than a station and I think that's a little strange. I always assumed they moved it and were using it as a test station for orbit patterns and stuff but maybe not.

Everyone working in the station is probably trashed since they sell personal stills so I suppose it gets off course every once in a while. I voted for a prohibition CG, might be interesting.

jaques is unique and should not be neglected.

I sought him out after hearing it was in game.I remember the jaques story from the original.

A CG to jumpsuit his engines would be nice, but voted for weekly move.
A CG would also get the station some attention too.
In system he has many jaques faction ships flying around the system,I always imagined he was mining the planetary rings restocking for a jump.
Each system would be a new adventure and the stations needs could vary.

A patch is required to move systems, not a big thing, could be fit in with weekly powerplay changes.
Only problem may be for console patch maybe not so easy to frequently update, unless that has a powerplay update also. Not sure if PP needs a patch so that could be a hurdle.

If they can get the background sim to regularly move Jaques, it would be interesting to be able to affect this. Maybe a mission that gives each CMDR a vote on his next destination.
I'm not sure what the jump range is for a station.

The static state of Jaque's station has led to a lot of contemplation and theorizing about the
importance of the system he currently is in. I'd like to have him moving onwards,
IF the system really does not matter.
Who knows, maybe Jaque did disappear when he parked his station there,
by accidentally entering RAXXLA, or the state of RAXXLA.

Maybe his station went "dark" by loosing power and leaving a
"Dark Wheel" behind...
Whatever applies.

Don't abandon a unique feature!
