Hawkwind

Yep, it's my avatar for a reason :) Seemed most fitting, and maybe somewhere out there we'll come across NPC Michael Moorcock, he has to be out there!

Kind of amusing, I read this thread while listening to a song about the Eternal Champion (not Hawkwind, though, Blind Guardian).

Perfect thread for the perfect ED exploration music.
Is their whole back catalogue destined to be the ED soundtrack?

1st band I saw live in Leicester DeMontfort hall.

Dream Worker
Angel Voices
The whole of Space Ritual?

Those were the days!!!!

So many cool people! Though hardly surprising that Hawks fan are into Elite.
.
First saw Hawkwind at Hammersmith Odeon in May 1979 (oops - where did those 36 years go?) as immortalized in the Live '79 album. IIRC they were supported by a band called Doll by Doll who were mercilessly heckled from the moment they walked on stage and stormed off after a few songs.
.
Though the ship is going to have to be named "Brainstorm".
.
And to show that although you have to grow old you don't have to grow up - was back at Hammy Odeon last Saturday to see Thunder on their latest comeback tour. And very good it was too!

Just wanted to add my nostalgia to this thread, Hawkwind has been such a major part of my life for er fhghem eh em years glad to hear there is more travellers on the edge of time out there!

Loved Hawkwind since the late 70s. All through my school days and beyond.
Best memory has to be the legendary 1984 Stonehenge Festival gig as the sun was rising on solstice morning.
Regularly went to see them whenever they appeared anywhere locally 2 or 3 times a year (with my head stuffed full of magic mushrooms or worse.)
By absolute chance I met a friend of a friend in the 90s and it turned out to be (the late) Robert Calvert's son. We became good friends and I got to go to all the reunion gigs and meet the classic line-ups. Fanboy dream comes true after 20 odd years. Better late than never I guess.
Wonderful band, amazing sounds, great memories.
I still listen.
